Key accused confesses to MQM leader Imran Farooq's murder

ISLAMABAD: Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali Syed, the two key accused in Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq’s murder case, have confessed to involvement in the crime.

According to sources, Khalid Shamim made the confessional statement before Magistrate, Capt. (Retd) Shoaib.

Khalid Shamim said in his statement that he has links with MQM and that he received the orders for killing Imran Farooq from MQM leader Muhammad Anwar in London. “Then I passed on the order to murder Imran Farooq to others,” he added.

The second accused Mohsin Ali Syed has also confessed his direct involvement in the murder of the slain MQM leader.

Mohsin said in his statement that he grabbed Imran Farooq from behind while Kashif Khan Kamran carried out multiple stabbing from front. In order to make Imran Farooq’s death certain, Kashif also hit him with a brick several times.

He said the plan to execute Imran Farooq was made at a hostel of London’s university. The murder plan was finalized after conducting a thorough monitoring of Imran Farooq’s daily movements and schedules.

The main accused Moazzam Ali is still unwilling to record his statement.

Earlier, the Magistrate asked Khalid Shamim if he was giving this statement under pressure and the latter replied in the negative.

Khalid Shamim took around three hours to record his statement inside the Magistrate’s room while Mohsin Ali’s statement was recorded in one and a half hour.

On the contrary, my feeling is that the story is now moving to its logical end.

Altaf Hussein's bail is due for a renewal in the next few weeks. These confessions will be presented before the magistrate in London and charges will be brought against Mr M. Anwar.

Scotland yard has more than 4000 pages as documents and the proofs.

Mr Anwar will be given all the evidence and asked to plead guilty or not guilty. Either ways he will be cooked. Only thing left to be seen is that if he will AH down with him.
