KARACHI: Police conducted raids in the industrial area of New Karachi and detained eight suspects and recovered arms, Geo News reported Saturday.
SP Gulberg Division Asad CHaudhry told that police conducted search operation in the industrial area on the tip off regarding presence of criminals in the area. While searching the houses, eight suspected persons were held while two pistols and bullets were also recovered from their possession.
The detained persons were shifted to undisclosed location and are currently being interrogated.


KARACHI: An accused booked in several murder cases including a policeman was killed when an encounter took place in Chanesar Goth area of Karachi on Friday.
According to CID In-charge Mazhar Mashwani, CID police conducted raids in CHanesar Goth area in order to apprehend the suspected persons.
During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between the CID police personnel and culprits during which an accused was killed.
Mazhar Mashwani told that the killed accused identified as Sardar Saqib was involved in several murder cases including the murder of head constable.

Police and Rangers gunned down seven suspected criminals in different raids on Friday.


A Rangers spokesperson said the paramilitary force conducted an operation near Aath Chowk in Lyari and in a shootout killed Faiz Muhammad alias Lala Orangi and Mohammad Naeem alias Kalok, both members of the Baba Ladla gang.
He added that Faiz Muhammad was a commander of the gang and involved in 59 target killings. Mohammad Naeem was wanted by the police in 42 murder cases including that of Pakistan People’s Party’s former councillor Jamil.

The Rangers also conducted a raid in Singho Lane area of Lyari and in an encounter shot dead Younus alias Madi, a member of the Uzair Baloch gang currently working for Ustad Taju.
The spokesperson said Younus was involved in 10 murders including that of five Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists and ASI Riaz Tanoli.

Separately, a City district police team conducted a raid near Jhat Phat Market in Kalakot, Lyari and in a shootout killed a gangster, Nadeem alias Japan. His associates, however, managed to escape.
SSP City Sheraz Nazir said Nadeem was wanted in 60 murder cases including an attack at Jhat Phat Market in which 16 people were killed. He was also involved in the murder of his younger brother Jehanzeb over a dispute and Head Constable Zaman in Lyari.

In another shootout, the City district police gunned down a gangster in Kharadar. He was identified as Mehboob Sindhi. The SSP City said the police had conducted a raid there acting on a tip-off. Mehboob was a member of the Uzair Baloch gang and was wanted by the Lyari and City police in killing and kidnapping cases.

CID encounter
A Crime Investigation Department team gunned down an alleged target killer in Mehmoodabad.
CID Investigation Wing In-charge Mazhar Mashwani said his officers conducted a raid in Chanesar Goth where some criminals opened fire on them. The officers retaliated and killed Sardar Saqib, a target killer involved in many murders including that of Head Constable Jawed Akhtar.

Robber’ killed
A patrolling police team intercepted some robbers looting citizens in Samanabad Park in Block-20. When the robbers saw the police, they opened fire at them. The police fired back and killed one of the robbers while the others managed to flee.
The dead robber was found in possession of a pistol.

ANF raid
The Anti-Narcotics Force Sindh, as part of its Operation Umeed-e-Nau-II, interrogated a Pakistani who was about to travel from Karachi to Dubai and found 50 heroin-filled capsules in his possession. The ANF arrested the culprit and filed a case against him.
The ANF said the seized heroin was worth Rs5 million in the international market.

Five suspected gang members, allegedly involved in target killing, extortion and kidnappings, were killed by the Rangers and the police in two raids in Lyari, while half a dozen more suspects were arrested in separate raids in the city on Friday and Thursday night.


The Rangers claimed to have killed four Lyari gang members in an encounter in Lyari. The Rangers personnel conducted a raid on a tip-off at a hideout in Gul Muhammad Lane. According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspects, allegedly associated with the Baba Ladla group, were killed in a fierce exchange of fire after they started shooting at the law enforcers in an attempt to escape.

Two of those killed were identified as Daniyal alias Burger and Murtaza, while the other two have yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, another suspected gang member was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Kalakot late on Thursday night.

The encounter occurred when the police conducted a raid at a gang hideout. SSP Sheeraz Nazeer said that the slain suspect, identified as Fayyaz Punjabi, was affiliated with the Uzair Jan Baloch group.

In another raid, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police claimed to have arrested a gang member during a targeted raid in Mochko, Baldia Town.

The arrested suspect was identified as Abdul Raheem alias Gujjar alias Mirch Jatoi.

SIU chief Farooq Awan said that the accused was an extortionist who had recently attacked a restaurant in Baldia Town after the owner refused to pay him extortion money.

Similarly, an alleged member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was arrested in an injured condition after an encounter with law enforcement agencies in Ayub Goth. He was later identified as Bostan Bakht.

Separately, four drug peddlers were arrested in a targeted raid conducted by the Rangers at Natha Khan Goth.

KARACHI: Three suspected militants were killed during an alleged encounter with the Crime Investigation Department police while the Rangers and police arrested 10 suspects during raids in parts of the city on Wednesday.

Personnel of the CID’s Anti-Extremist Cell (AEC) conducted a raid on a tip-off about a militant hideout at Ghazi Goth, Manghopir, early on Wednesday. AEC in-charge DSP Ali Raza said that they had received information about the presence of militants belonging to the Swat chapter of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who were allegedly planning to carry out a terrorist activity in the city.

The militants opened fire at the police during the raid and the police fired back in retaliation, killing three militants while their accomplices managed to escape, he said. The CID police also claim to have confiscated weapons, including a submachine gun and pistols from the militants’ possession. The bodies were moved to the Edhi morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities were completed at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Three suspected criminals, including extortionists, were arrested during targeted raids conducted by the Rangers in North Karachi, Lines Area and Timber Market. A Rangers spokesperson said that weapons were seized from their possession and they were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

In targeted raids conducted by the Rangers in Mandra Muhalla and Macchar Colony, six suspected Lyari gang members were arrested.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell police claimed to have arrested a suspect, identified as Naqeebullah, during a raid on Hub River Road. They recovered narcotics and a Mehran car stolen from PIB Colony from him.

KARACHI: Bombs and other explosives were recovered in a raid conducted by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Orangi Town on Monday evening while nearly a dozen suspects were detained in a targeted operation in New Karachi.

Officials and personnel of the CID’s Anti-Extremist Cell raided the hideout of militants from a banned outfit in Mominabad, Orangi Town. DSP Ali Raza, who heads the Anti-Extremist Cell, said that the raid was conducted on the basis of information they received about the presence of men working with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He added that the suspect the militants were plotting attacks in the city and were in possession of explosive materials and bombs.

CID officials said that there was heavy firing from both sides and the militants managed to escape into the narrow streets of the neighbourhood.

According to Raza, they reached the hideout after a shootout and found a large cache of bombs, explosives and weapons that could have been used in attacks. The bomb disposal squad was called in immediately to defuse the explosive devices.

Initial reports suggest that around 100 kilogrammes of explosive material was recovered from the hideout along with three suicide jackets which were ready to be used, one bottle bomb, three hand grenades, 18 packet bombs, one Kalashnikov, 30 detonators, wires, six batteries, 13 cellphones, three remote controls, two vehicles with government number plates, three pistols, six uniforms belonging to security forces, including the police.

Arrests

Around 14 suspects were detained during an overnight targeted operation in different parts of New Karachi’s Bilal Colony, including Sector 5-E and 5-J. The entire neighbourhood was cordoned off during the operation – no one was allowed to enter or exit the area for at least three hours. They took 14 suspects into custody and also recovered weapons from some of them. The suspects were taken to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

Following the arrests, the families of the suspects held a protest and demanded that their loved ones should be released immediately. They claimed that the police had arrested innocent men.

While talking to The Express Tribune, New Karachi’s SP Chaudhry Asad said that the arrested men had no links to any political or religious party.

Meanwhile, in Lyari, the police recovered awan bombs and weapons during another targeted operation conducted near Gabol Park, Kalakot. Police officials claimed that the operation was conducted on information they received about the presence of gangsters in the area. They added that during the operation a gang member was injured but managed to escape. In total, the police recovered 24 awan bombs, four pistols and more than 800 ammunitions for sub-machine guns.

‘Supplier’ of fake medicines held

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested a key suspect involved in supplying fake and smuggled medicines in the city on Monday. The accused, identified as Imran alias Mama, was arrested during a raid conducted at Wahab Medicine Market in Saddar.

FIA officials also said that they had confiscated fake and smuggled medicines worth over Rs150 million from his possession.

They added that other suspects, namely Waheed, Sohail and Barkat, had been arrested for selling fake or smuggled medicines in previous raids. According to the officials, the FIA has initiated a crackdown against such criminals and the operation would continue until all suppliers involved in selling fake or smuggled medicines were arrested.

KARACHI: There has been a considerable decline in crime in the city due to the ongoing Karachi operation, said IG Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali. “The police have not just focused on militancy but also target killings, kidnappings and extortion.” He added that this had helped them arrests roughly 19,020 criminals and kill around 640 in encounters and raids.

According to details shared with the participants of the 41st Specialised Training Programme held at the National Police Academy at Central Police Office, nearly 1,311 target killers, 398 militants and 442 extortionists were taken into custody. The IG claimed that the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi was being conducted in coordination with the Rangers.

He said that in 2014, 177 police personnel were killed in Sindh out of which 132 were gunned down in Karachi, 26 in Hyderabad, 10 in Larkana, six in Shaheed Benazirabad, two in Sukkur and one in Mirpurkhas.

The IG also discussed different capacity building measures they will take – these include, intelligence-led policing, counter terrorism initiatives and specialised training courses. The forensics division will be upgraded with its own DNA laboratory. The existing Central Command and Control Center will also be upgraded and around 2,000 surveillance cameras will be installed at 400 locations in the city.

KARACHI: Two suspects were killed by a resident of Quaidabad, while six alleged criminals were gunned down in two separate police encounters on Wednesday.

The two alleged robbers tried to loot a mobile phone shop in Quaidabad but when the shop owner, Zahid, resisted their attempts, they shot and injured him. They were fleeing from the scene on a motorcycle when Zahid opened fire at them with his licensed pistol and killed the two near the Murghi Khana stop. Zahid and the bodies were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment and autopsies. Zahid succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police officials said that the deceased suspects have yet to be identified.

In a separate incident, four men were killed during an alleged encounter with the police on Super Highway in Sohrab Goth within the limits of the Sacchal police. The encounter occurred early on Tuesday.

Police officials claimed that the encounter took place when the police raided the criminals’ hideout on a tipoff. The suspects were armed and were looting passers-by. According to police officials, the criminals resorted to indiscriminate fire at the police and tried to escape. In the retaliatory fire, four of the suspects were killed. Police officials claim to have recovered weapons from their possession.

Sacchal DSP Qamar Ahmed said that the police were trying to trace their identities and criminal records. Initial investigation suggested that they were involved in various cases of highway robberies and crimes. The bodies were later shifted to Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification after medico-legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Similarly, two alleged target killers were killed during an encounter with the police in Manghopir. Police officials claimed that the encounter took place on Northern Bypass, adding that both the criminals were killed during the gun-battle. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsies where they were identified as Waseem alias Babar alias Khan, 32, and Hassan alias Shahrukh, 26.

Two pistols and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession. Police officials said that the deceased criminals were wanted by the police in several cases of target killings and crimes. Further investigations are underway.

Busted

Separately, two suspected members of a Lyari-based gang were arrested after an exchange of fire with the police in Mochko.

The arrested men were later identified as Zeeshan alias Mushki and Din Muhammad. Police officials said that the suspects were associated with the Baba Ladla group. Weapons were also seized from them.

Similarly, three alleged robbers were arrested during a shootout with the police in Sohrab Goth. They were identified as Nawab Wazir, Ehsan Hafiz and Rasheed Mushtaq. Police officials said that the suspects were involved in various cases of crime.

Meanwhile, three suspected target killers were arrested by District Central investigation wing. The suspects were identified as Ameer Hamza alias Hamza, Abdul Habib alias Sonu and Azeem. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Tuesday claimed to have arrested nine suspects belonging to a political party allegedly involved in targeted killings and extortion.

“Rangers conducted a targeted raid in the Akal Bonga area [in old city area] today and detained nine hardened criminals, including target killers and extortionists affiliated with the MQM,” said a Rangers official statement.

It added that weapons, including grenades, bulletproof jacket and a large quantity of ammunition were also seized, the statement claimed.

KARACHI: The commander of a group of target killers affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was allegedly killed in an encounter with the Rangers in the city on Sunday.

Amjad alias Sajjad Langra was killed when Rangers personnel conducted a raid at a militant hideout in Ittehad Town, Baldia Town, after a tip-off. A Rangers spokesperson said that the raid was conducted on the basis of information received about the presence of a large cache of weapons and explosives prepared for militant activity. He added that the militants resorted to indiscriminate fire upon seeing the Rangers, leading to an exchange of fire in which one militant was killed and a law enforcer injured.

According to the Rangers spokesperson, the militant killed was the commander and explosives expert of the TTP-Swat’s team of target killers. He further said that Amjad was involved in numerous high-profile militant activities in Karachi, adding that a large quantity of explosives, detonators, improvised explosive devices, grenades and weapons were also seized during the raid.

Separately, the Rangers also claimed to have apprehended eight militants during ongoing targeted raids in Baldia Town and Gulshan-e-Bunair. The arrested suspects belonged to TTP-Sultanabad, Karachi, and weapons and explosives were confiscated from them.

In another raid, Pakistan Bazaar police arrested two suspects, Wasim Bashir and Farrukh Wakeel, during a raid conducted in Orangi Town. The police also claimed to have seized toxic liquor from their possession. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway.

KARACHI: Four suspected terrorists including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Commander Abid Muchar were killed while a Rangers personnel sustained minor injuries in an exchange of fire in Karachi on Friday.
The militants allegedly opened fire at Rangers in Musharraf Colony on Hawkes Bay Road and also hurled hand grenades.

The suspects were killed in retaliatory action, while weapons were also recovered from their hideouts.

According to Express News, these militants were involved in multiple attacks on security forces in the city.
