Kamorta class corvettes for VPN ?

The chinese press has being saying for a while that VN will get 6 Kamortas, but can't get any other details from anywhere else.

Well, judging by this Philippines offer, the price is damn low (especially when Thales' tacticos CMS will be included), so why not?

$1.3 billion for 6 frigates in the 3000ton class is damn cheap.

I can't bring up the article on google search. Was there any pics in it?

You can only see the article if you have Jane's subscription. :D

No pics of this export version, it only shows the first Indian Kamorta.

.
The other two interesting things the article said was that GRSE will team up with Thales to integrate their Tacticos CMS for this export version. They've also have already made an agreement with a local Filipino shipyard to provide long-term (logistic) support for the Philippines.

I dont want to post the full article due to copyright but thats basically what it said.

That looks like a pretty nice ship man, the Tacticos CMS is top notch.

Also, the price for India is high because of all the development cost and the big effort and delays to get them going, follow on ships should be cheaper.

Cheaper than the Sigmas and probably better.

Yep, super nice. Having the Tacticos means that it will have interoperability with the Sigma.

It also means that GRSE will have the experience to help VN to integrate whatever weapons and sensors it want, whether it's western, Russian or Israeli.
Here's what the GRSE rep said in the article:

"One of our main criteria was the reliability and redundancy of CMS system. We wanted a truly international CMS system which has the proven capability of integrating with a wide variety of sensors and weapons,"

I can see already that the Kamorta will become the export flagship for India in a variety of versions.

It just needs to be intagrated with Brahmos and that baby will rock. It has Barak 8 already (16 cells)

Considering that India has a great relationship with France and Israel, etc, they can integrate so many things in these ships..... the sonars are from Thales, the 76 mm gun is made under license from Oto Melara.

The 4 Kamortas for India is just the first batch, after those 4 it will be an upgraded model, the P-28A but I can't find details on it.

We will always upgrade our platform after each and every batch of production.Future of INS Kolkata series would be even better than present one.
It seems the corvettes for VPN would be upraded version.

But did you hear anything specific in India about the ships for Vietnam? Here we can't get anything.

Upgraded version for VN makes sense.

For now we heard about the purchasing 4 OPVs from India.
Perhaps this deal must be in secret talks. You know our over aggressive ,self proclaimed Super Power in North cant digest these developments :D.
So they may dont interested in making things public.
You know you cant compromise in quality of export version.
And unlike in India VN need a lot of firepower .And this deal would be a fulfilled in future. So you will get customised version of Kamorta having Brahmos VLS and also new Barak 8MRSAM.
6 of such ships would be enough for securing any instant adventure of self proclaimed Super power. Both in sea and also in air.

I say get rid of those RBU-6000s and install in that position a VLS module for the Brahmos.

Btw, some other article said the newer carbon composite superstructure will be the same material as those used in the Visby class. 8-)

I was surprised that GRSE went ahead and made an offer for this Philippines tender. I taught the Philippines offering $200million for a new frigate was unrealistic. But I guess GRSE can work with that.

So imagine VN adding the Israeli MF-STAR aesa radar, it would still be under $300 million. Add in a VLS module for the Brahmos and that would probably still be under $450million.

That would make this Kamorta waaaay more powerful than the Sigmas.

Right now Barak 8 is not deployed on any ship either Indian or Israeli.
Barak 8 has only just completed development trials.

It will only start getting produced now.

Absolutely, those RBU-6000's are exactly in the spot for Brahmos. Russia no longer uses RBU-6000, they use Packet-E now.

I was thinking the same thing, that Israeli radar and an expanded Barak 8 VLS system, actually, India said that the new ship classes will use a minimum of a 24 cell Barak 8, so the next batch of Kamortas should have 24 and that's probably what VN will get.

Definitely way more powerful than the Sigmas. I think 2 Sigmas is already enough.

Yes, as I understand, Indian ships such as Kamorta and Kolkata are commissioned with the Barak 8 system installed, but without the actual missiles while waiting for the production units.
