Exactly, Kalabagh will get bogged down in inter provincial disputes, and undermine the new governments agenda. The Soan Dam would not prevent the natural flow of the river as is, and provide flood protection, water storage, and energy production, more so then Kalabagh could. If the Sindh and Baluchistan governments push for the Soan Dam they can protect their water supply, and fulfill the national goal of water storage capacity, flood protection, and electricity generation.

Look at the map for once. Kalabagh dam will not irrigate central punjab or north punjab. It will irrigate seraiki, baloch, and pathan areas. Dam was supposed to irrigate lands on right side of indus which comes under south KP and baloch/seraiki area. Along with baloch areas of Balochistan.

Especially Baloch lands cannot be irrigated without kalabagh dam.

The day south punjab/seraiki province is made then they will run out of excuses when poor baloch demand their share of water from indus. This is why now seraiki province must be made at all cost. If stupid Sindh can waste water by cultivating rice then why can't baloch land be irrigated with their duo share from Indus.

Just like I was watching a talk show yesterday where someone very senior said it correctly, let's not touch Kalabagh issue as it will take down the Diamer Bhasha focus.

If you ask me, I wish Kalabagh would've or could've been built, but my wish is not more precious than the unity of the country. There can be hundreds of other dams built easily which are similar to Diamer Bhasha and that should be the focus. Built dams with consensus.
