JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 6]

Hi,

I will agree to that----most part. But still---if there is EJ200 available---there must be one platform to show what it can do.

The RD93 is doing a great job---no doubt but it has limitations. From a position of uncertainty---this engine has brought us to a point of recognition---like we are now at the base camp of the K2---.

Now if you look at it---the life of the engine has been reduced from 4000 hrs to 2200 hrs----so in that sense---even for pakistan air force---it is better to go for the EJ200 version----which has a life span of around 6000 hrs---.

So---paf does not need to market it to other nations---the EJ200 variant would serve better for pakistan.

And again---if you fly it---people would want it.

I agree with your general concept. And I actually have been to the base camp of K-2 myself, one of the most memorable trips of my life being in the negative 40 Celsius and then trapped inside a Glacier for hours before anyone could get to us. It was a white sheet of snow and ice for as long as the human eye can see. And not a Goddamn human, dog or even a ird in sight!!!! But that's a separate story altogether.

The RD-93MA's actual MTBF ratio is higher then the previous version. But because its sort of new and not functionally tested to the extent it needed to, I think the PAF has reduced the operational hours just to be on the safe side and to gain knowledge about it in details. The upgrades were all new to RD-93. Its like, my sports car uses a fully synthetic oil that apparently Mercedes brings from Germany for just this one type (the rest can use Mobil 1). So with this expensive oil change, I know the vehicle can go to 10K miles without problems as the label says so. But because I know the cost of having issues with this vehicle and it not being a normal car, I am cautious. So I order oil change every 5k-6k miles. Same rule is being applied to RD-93MA to ensure pilot safety and aircraft availability.

I think EJ2000 and Meteor and all, should be an option on the JFT block IV, the one I mentioned earlier with PS'd pictures showing stealthy body and nose cone. That would easily compete with Rafale's and EFT's so it must have that higher end option. Just like cars, you add a sports package and touring package from the French, the cost of the JFT goes up :enjoy:

.
My view is:
1. PAF is busy working on the next blocks and even some fixes on the current and past blocks. Lots of engineering time and costs.

2. 6000 hrs life, for a jet flying 200 hrs per year is 30 years' life. From a money point of view, the PAF might see it better that the buy cheap shorter life assets to allow them to have the numbers they need, that covers them for 10 years. They could choose to get a shoft loan that allows the EuroJet, but that increases the cost more.

Isn't the designed life of the FC-1 4000 hrs? That should say they set out to design a cheap and cheerful fighter.

3. With closer to 70 Rd93s flying in Pakistan, investing in the tools, training and procedures for another engine is another sure way to slow down.

4. A new engine will require structural changes, software, production tooling and procedures, fighting testing and optimisation.

5. More likely they will get TOT from Russia than Europe.

6. Politics - usually and embargo from the US come together with a European embargo. Splitting between East and West leaves you with a fighter in case you fall out.

7. It does not help the sales guys if PAF goes around saying the Rd engine is not good! Regardless of what they think, there is a need to talking positive. Even for the sake of your pilots and public, the leadership cannot be the one saying "we bought you a sh1tty weapon system"

i still think the M53-P2 is still your best bet , however you still need to improve the air-frame

if somehow a miracle happened and france agreed to supply you with M53-P2 and the Rdy-3 to produce it locally under license the jf-17 would be significantly better

.
The only problem with jf17 is its fuel capacity. in case of bvr conflict b.w india and pakistan. Half fuel would dry out in evading missiles.

Did we have the KG-600 jammer displayed with the FC-1 last year?

Hi,

It amazes me when every pakistani comes swining with a BEST CASE SCENARIO in their favor---.

The 5th gen fighter do not fill int the hole for a 4 / 4.5 gen heavy fighter strike aircraft---.

@Viper0011. At max range the chance of hitting the target fro an R77 is miniscule----even at a close enough range it is never a 100%---it is more like somewhere in the 90% range---as you mentioned.

The SD10B even though gets a lot from the R77 is a much newer missile and is pretty close to the aim 120's that pakistan has---.

MastanKhan you have no idea what are you talking about US did not even build that many 3rd generation of fighters they directly jumped to 4th generation of fighter if they can do that why don't we and please explain how and why
The 5th gen fighter do not fill int the hole for a 4 / 4.5 gen heavy fighter strike aircraft and please also tell which 4.5 generation plane pakistan could have
SD-10A is pretty good for new missile it is more capable than the American AIM-120 A/B, but slightly inferior than the AIM-120C

All of this discounts electronic warfare. The Bars can survive a dense EW environment that the JF-17's obsolete radar cannot. I'm willing to bet the JF-17s will be radar blind throughout the war when up against the MKI or any other IAF aircraft. The MKI's larger RCS won't matter in such circumstances. Not counting the MKI's ability to fire five different classes of air to air missiles while the JF-17 has just two.---.

what the hell are you talking about and what you said to answer all of that what you said i just want to say have sweet dreams

Hi,

I have explained it here 20 times---if you need an answer---then search for it---otherwise keep on posting.

Endia going for rafale. F-18/f-16. Have sukhois and migs.
Now what gonna do Paf will be. Or just killing time or praying for mercy.

.
JH7 or JH7B are good but they are like SU-34 it is a fighter bomber it is primary objective is ground bombing secondary objective is fighting if PAF need fighter bomber that is a good option but for air superiority mode if PAF need a heavy fighter J-11 which pointed by tank131 Russia would not let us and with new relationship between Russia and pakistan ya it would be bit of stretch now you have two option 1st is euro fighter which we can not buy 2nd is J-10 which we don't want to buy or maybe just yet

.
