Japanese ships with training squadron of Japan Maritime Self-defence (JMSDF) will arrive at Chittagong Port on September 24 as a goodwill visit to Bangladesh.

Japanese Embassy in Dhaka said this is the first ever visit of JMSDF's ships to Bangladesh since independence which has been organised in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The embassy official said 750 officers and crew including 200 newly commissioned officers of JMSDF will stay until September 27 and participate in various interaction programmes with their Bangladesh counterparts.

A press release of the embassy said Commander Rear Admiral Hidetoshi Fuchinoue and his officers will be received by Bangladesh Navy at a ceremony at the port authority jetty. Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima will be present at the ceremony.

The purpose of the visit is to develop seamanship of the newly commissioned officers of the JMSDF and also promote mutual understanding and goodwill with the countries they will visit.

The Training Squadron will visit 14 countries as part of its five-month training period.

The Training Squadron was composed of JS KASHIMA, JS SHIMAYUKI and JS MATSUYUKI.

A Japanese navy fleet including a destroyer is scheduled to arrive in Chittagong on September 24 on a 3-day goodwill visit.
Port and navy sources said that the fleet would take part in a joint exercise with Bangladesh navy in the Bay of Bengal.
They also said that the fleet included a destroyer JS Matsuyuki and two training ships, JS Kashima and JS Shimayuki, under Japan maritime self defence force (JMSDF).
The honorary consul of Japan in Chittagong, Nurul Islam, told New Age, ‘It is a goodwill visit, which will help strengthen the bilateral relation between Bangladesh and Japan.. We welcome such a visit and feel happy for that.’

SO this is a joint exercise of Bangladesh and Japanese navy as well. Our first joint exercise with the Japanese

The ships that Japan designated as "training ships" would have been the pride of our navy if we had them
