Japan wants to recruit caregivers from Bangladesh

????

You understand that as a board certified Nurse Practitioner (family nurse practitioner/ psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner / critical care nurse practitioner) you can make anywhere from $80,000 to $130,000 USD a year right? These are advanced practice nursing roles and require a masters or doctorate in nursing degree. But NPs in Japan make as much as physicians.

Definitely more than the average wage there in Singapore....!

Even a nurse with BSN degree and straight out of college will take home around $4,000 USD a month. So it's not bad at all. For foreign nurses working in Japan .... that's a lot of money for them, and it helps because they usually send back to their family back in their home countries. Win win situation.

All these shortage ecetera are bs and elites fabrication. Basic economics theory will tell you that so long there is a shortage, the price level will rise.

Is nurse salary rising?

If not or if the rising does not meet the expectation, let it rise further and so that nurse get 200 000 and doctor get less for example.

Then you see nursing school get flooded and price level will fall.

The import of foreigners at the reason of shortage is a code word for exploitation.

The elites uses free market at their convenience.

Nursing is a vast field. If you have a bachelor's of science in nursing , as a staff RN at a major hospital in say Yokohama (for example) you can easily make what is equivalent to about $60,000 USD a year working 1 job full time. In Japan, nurses don't usually work only 1 job. Its common for them to work 1 job full time and pick up part time work doing weekend on-calls at another hospital. So its very common for a nurse in Japan (as one who has a BSN-RN) to make around $70,000 to $80,000 working 2 jobs.

If let's say one has a Master's degree in Nursing in Advanced Practice Nursing (which is a requirement now in Japan in order to become a Nurse Practitioner), the opportunities goes up as there are jobs in nursing managment , nursing informatics, nursing research. But as a Nurse Practitioner (Master's degree or Doctoral Degree) is salaried at a base of what is around $80,000 USD a year. For more advanced specialities such as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, their salary is very high --- around $130,000 USD a year. Note that is just 1 job. If a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner decides to work 2 jobs, they an easily make as much as $200,000 USD a year or even more.

This is In Japan Salary.

When nobody is there in a close system, economics theory states that wages will rise as too much monies are chasing too few goods.

When the rise in wages will attract new kids on board.

By importing foreigners, you guys are denying the fair wages to your nurse.

The demand is high , so that's why there's a surge in bringing in educated health professionals from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam. You have nurses , Philippine-educated and trained, coming in to Japan who used to make $300 a month. Then they're working in Japan and are being paid $3,000 - $4, 000 a month. Sometimes they don't know what to do with so much money. lol.

You see its a win win situation. They contribute to Japanese health industry, at the same time the money they make they are able to save, and go back to their home countries like princes. That or they prefer to live in Japan and contribute to Japanese society.

We don't bring in uneducated , unskilled workers. We bring in professionals, educated , those with no criminal history.

So why so pessimistic?

By importing foreigners, you guys are denying the fair wages to your nurse.

We are not denying anything. The issue is that there are more more jobs than there are Japanese workers to fill them. Understand?

There are Nurse Practitioner positions in Japanese hospitals that are unfilled. These jobs have salaries that are in the $80,000 - $130,000 + USD a year. They remain unfilled because there's just not enough Japanese nurses. Period.

So? What do we do? We bring in qualified foreign nurses to fill in these ranks.

Simple logic, yes?

We know nursing is a tough jobs and they deserve that sort of pay. Tough job low pay, then no one joining.

There is a problem in japanese shortage of nurse, and market is giving you the feedback.

Feedback is to rise their salary and improve their working condition.

Japan wants to recruit caregivers and nurses from Bangladesh, said an official of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).

Bangladesh embassy in Japan sent letters to the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry and BMET informing them of the opportunities created for Bangladeshis in Japan’s job market, the official said.

Japan reportedly has the highest life expectancy in the world, with a baby girl expected to live up to 86 years of age and a boy up to nearly 80, according to a 2011 study. Its level of expectancy has risen in recent times thanks to general diet awareness and public health measures.

In this regard, the official said more old people in Japan are in need of paid caregivers than before, with the average age of the Japanese rising. Bangladesh can take this opportunity and send trained helpers there.

Currently, Japan recruits caregivers and nurses from Philippines and Indonesia under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

BMET Director Nurul Islam said there is a good potential for Bangladeshis in Japan’s booming caregiving industry.

“We sent a letter to our embassy in Japan two weeks ago in this regard. We requested our officials to hold meetings with the respective departments of Japan and inform us about what steps we should take to send caregivers,” he told the Dhaka Tribune over phone on Thursday.

Those who are interested to work as caregivers have to have training and fluency in Japanese. If Bangladeshis perform better, opportunities will likely increase, he said.

A caregiver would get a monthly salary of over Tk100,000, he added.

@bongbang @UKBengali @kalu_miah , @aazidane ---- your opinion ?

Did you take permission from India about this :p:

@Nihonjin1051 you are talking about specific details of salary.
@Lux de Veritas you are talking about policies from a national level.
It's a waste of time.

Congrats to those beautiful BD women, their hardworking will pay back in Japan.
But it is a sad story for Japan, not for those oversee Japanese.

@Lux de Veritas : Let's not radicalize this normal export and import of labour service, in principle it's just demand and supply. Different from other trade relationship, specific attentions are needed to ensure protection of human rights, social justice is being guaranteed, and trade costs (middlemen margin, this is one major potential area of "exploitation") is minimized. Actually protectionism against import of talents seems always have more political clout in most circumstances. Public's fear of job loss, fear of salary decrease, and fear of foreign culture invasion might make policy-makers more cautious in the agenda of labour imports.

@Nihonjin1051 : Obviously there is a shortage of talents in this profession am I correct? Then it's a good news for those in need in Japan say the elderlies, importing Bangladeshi talents will vastly expand the existing supply. Would there be political objection from interests groups say domestic nurses in the profession?

@BD : This is a good news! Bangladesh has a big, well-talented workforce in nursing profession. Wish them all the best on new job opportunities in Japan!

@AndrewJin : I have met a lot of complaints from foreigners working in Shanghai (double-taxation, limit of remittance channels etc) as well as from Shanghainese working overseas (bound by domestic law that limits his work overseas), I think China government significantly lacks legislation and efficient policies in labour import and export, and should seek experience-sharing with countries like Japan, Bangladesh HK/TW, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, etc.

If earth is a close system and there is a shortage of nurse, lets import from aliens.

Obviously this is labor arbitration or exploitation of Japanese.

I love humanity, and I want to expose these practice.

On the other hand this also improve the lots of Bangla girls.

It's better to train Chinese themselves. Importing talent is easy but not good for the long run.

@Nihonjin1051 :

This is great news!

BD nurses will now be able to earn good money in Japan providing vital care for those in need. Also Japanese people are immensely civilised and they will not be abused or treated with disrespect like would happen in other countries.
