Japan announced on Sunday that it is ready to invest in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Japan's Ambassador to Tehran Koji Haneda told Iran's media that Japanese companies are currently studying the potentials to make investments in Sistan and Baluchestan.

“Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province enjoys the necessary security to host Japanese tourists and investors,” said Haneda, who was heading a high-profile Japanese business delegation to the southeastern port city of Chabahar.

He highlighted the importance of Chabahar an emerging hub in global trade and said the Japanese business delegation was there to conduct field studies over potential business activities.

The delegation has reportedly visited a major petrochemical plant in the city as well as a ship-building yard. It has then visited two key port sites in the city that are currently under development.

Iran, truly, is the new frontier. An untapped, vast, productive, innovative and dynamic frontier.

I wish , like many Japanese, continued development and progress for Iran.

Long may the Japanese-Irani Ties Grow.

Iranians are curious? Why only in Sistan-Balochistan? Why only Chahbahar? Why not in proper Iran itself? Why not in Iran's industrial, manufacturing, oil & other important sectors which badly needs foreign FDI & TECH.

Why not they tend to believes Japan interested only securing its own geopolitical interests under the guidence of sole super power than anything remotely out of love with Iranians.

Its important to understand the Irani-Japanese relationship in context to geopolitics. It is important to note that there are crippling sanctions leveled at Iran in part due to US pressure. This obstacle was the main issue for building relations between Tokyo and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Be that as it may, it appears that the leadership of Shinzo Abe , Prime Minister of Japan, has been more vocal in vouchsafing Japanese interests in the Middle East and has been vocal enough as well as intrepid enough to implement policies that are meant to increase Japanese activity in Iran. This is just the "beginning", my friend. Japan's forays into Chabahar Port as well as the Sistan-Balochistan region is just the beginning, a drop in the proverbial bucket.

You should know that this year (2015-2016), Japan will invest over $110 Billion in Asia. Most of this will be in South-Western Asia as well as Southeast Asia.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I think this shows the level of cooperation Japan under Abe Shinzo is prepared to work with our Irani counterparts. :)

Wow, great news. Anything that means better Iran-Japan relations is absolutely welcome. I don't think I need to repeat my affection to Japan and Japanese people again @Nihonjin1051, you already know that. :P

Hahaha! Same for me brother, I too have a very deep and find affection for Persian people and Persian culture / history. It is only natural that Tehran and Tokyo increase our relations. Man it is just so good to see that talks have led to these on the ground activities now. InshaALLAH, when the sanctions are removed, Japan and Iran can agree on a FTA as well as an Induatrial Zone that we both can build together.

Iranians are very EDUCATED people and I personally know of their capabilities (I had classmates that were Persian who lived and worked in Japan --- product of the Persian Diaspora in the early 80s, late 70s). I believe that Iran can be a hub for technology and trade for Southwest Asia and in the Persian Gulf.

I pray our two nations become ever closer. ALHAMDULILLAH!!

Indeed, it would be a win-win situation. Japan is one of few countries with which we have always had good relations in hundreds or thousands of years, China is another one. I can't recall anytime in history that two countries have been in bad terms. Current relations is too small given the existing potential, we can have an annual trade of $50 billions or more. Just too much potential.
