A union of Japan and Philippines would produce an Empire with a total population of over 233 Million. If we get involved, if hypothetically speaking the Philippines would be subsumed into the Great Japanese State , then, we would defend the Philippine claims in the SCS, definitely. Who knows even form a divide et impera with the Chinese.

Why stop with the Philippines? Malaysia , Thailand, heck even Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia could be included in this so called Great Japanese State.

well aren't you planning to make another Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere though? it previously failed though.

if anything, i'd say Philippines should stay stick to their ASEAN member to keep the solidarity among the south east people.

i don't object Japan to absorb Philippines though. but if it did happened, indonesia might as well taking China into our alliance as well.

Why do you keep repeating that？We just want to take back a few islets you stole from us and be on our way.Japan is certainly not stupid enough to defend disputed territories for you. I don‘t know about other Chinese members but I truly hope Japan could colonise Philippines，in that way they can happily cede Spratly to us and have the rest,in exchange for our recognition of their sovereignty over Philippines，and we will be leaving you alone and pointing our guns only to Vietnam, that will make things much easier.Is that so hare to understand?
