"Izumo" aircraft carrier of 27 500tonnes(Japanese said this is a multi-user frigate) (Asahi News)

According to the Asahi Shimbun, the Japanese government proposed at the meeting on the revision of the defense plan on the 5th that the "Izumo" frigate of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will be transformed into an aircraft carrier, but in defense. The plan outline will be positioned as a “multipurpose use frigate”. This title will then be used within the Japanese government and parties.

Japanese media said that the reason why the Japanese government gave up the "aircraft carrier" was because of criticism that the Japanese Constitution stipulates that Japan cannot have an aggressive carrier.

At the meeting, the Japanese Defense Ministry explained the specific transformation policy of the "Izumo", such as the thickening of the deck, allowing the fighter to land. The Japanese government said that the current Japanese constitution prohibits Japan from possessing an attacking aircraft carrier. Considering the voice of relevant criticism, the issue of the name "Yiyun" will be considered as a whole.

World War II, Old Izumo parked on the Huangpu River of Shanghai when Japan was invading China

The Japanese Komeito Party also raised objections, saying that "the aircraft carrier itself is not acceptable." The Liberal Democratic Party had previously proposed to define the name "Yiyun" as "multi-purpose use of the mothership." The Komeito Party said that the term "mothership" would be reminiscent of the "aircraft carrier." Therefore, an agreement was finally reached, and the title was designated as “multipurpose use frigate”.

After the meeting, the former Japanese Defense Minister Onodera Satoshi told reporters: "We all agree that the so-called multi-purpose, at most, within the scope of the frigate, can be widely used in a variety of occasions."

After the Second World War, Japan defeated implemented "special defense", that is, even if there is a need for defense, it will not impose a pre-emptive attack on the other party, and only attack the enemy forces that have actually attacked and repel the policy. . "Specialized defense" has always been Japan's most basic military strategy after the war. Whether the "Izumo" "carrierization" and the use of fighters means that the Japanese side has crossed the "defense of defense" boundary, and there is still suspense. Reported.

Biased mods might do nothing.

But reported anyway.

What isn't a multipurpose frigate? I would say a submarine is also a multipurpose frigate. It has one unique purpose, which is to sail under water. It fires with missiles and torpedoes. So do other frigates.

For what?

“Thorough deck cruisers” was a term the British used for the Invincible carrier to justify it to their government.

Good for them. China is building it's third aircraft carrier right now, with Emals and recently there have been some rumors from credible sources that it might even be nuclear powered and that a fourth carrier is also already under construction in Dalian. So honestly what Japan does with their helicopter boat doesn't seem very interesting to me, they can even call it a multi-purpose floating bycicle if they wish to do so who cares.

For what?
Same way Japan hunt whales to eat them and say it's scientific research ?
Japan is the only country in the world that conducts commercial killing of whales in the name of scientific research. Instead of paying attention to this, the Western media is very concerned about the issue of eating dog meat by 0.00000001% Chinese (among 1.4 billion Chinese).

Oh yeah!!? Then this is a 4.5+++ gen fighter aircraft that even F22 pilots fear:
