Featured Japan pushes defense equipment exports with corporate expertise

I just wanted to make them thinking. chinese make harassment of Japan, Vietnam and other because we are militarily weaker. They don’t harass Russia because they know Russia’s Red army tank divisions can reach Beijing in 4 weeks.
Ok you are right lets go back to the topic.
but why are you focusing on who can "beat up" your main enemy when you cant beat them up??? those are 2 separate issues and you need to focus on the latter...

.
you think war is only about budget? Japan still retains military technologies, strategies, methods that China either doesnt have, or is just getting. "dont judget a book by its cover" - I think Japan is a perfect example of this.

I am not saying that Japan is as strong as China's military today, but what im saying is that we should be too surprised if China isnt as easily able to militarily "suppress" Japan in the near future.

BUt in my guts, i think Japan military is very wary of CHina, because its similar to how it is fighting US- even if US/China wont win, they will probably destroy your entire country beefore they exit, simply because they can.
Japan's real threat is North Korea, who has the nuclear capability to wipe off Japan and is seriously thinking of doing so.

Japanese weapons - twice the price for half the American performance
Please provide backup for this claim. I really doubt the "half the American performance" part tbh..

North Korea threatens Japan with 'nuclear clouds'

'No one knows when the touch-and-go situation will lead to a nuclear war, but if so, the Japanese archipelago will be engulfed in flames in a moment'

North Korea has issued a chilling warning to Japan to stop putting pressure on Kim Jong-Un to relinquish his nuclear programme, saying it is a "suicidal deed" that will bring "nuclear clouds" to the country.

A commentary released by North Korean Central News Agency accused Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of pressuring North Korea purely for political gain, according to the South China Morning Post.

Tensions have grown on the Korean peninsula since Pyongyang conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on 3 September, leading to a new round of United Nations sanctions.

"Japan’s such rackets inciting the tension of the Korean peninsula is a suicidal deed that will bring nuclear clouds to the Japanese archipelago," the statement read.

"No one knows when the touch-and-go situation will lead to a nuclear war, but if so, the Japanese archipelago will be engulfed in flames in a moment. This is too self-evident."

It comes weeks after Mr Abe intensified calls to pressure North Korea into obligatory disarmament in a speech to the UN.

"The gravity of this threat is unprecedented. It is indisputably a matter of urgency. North Korea is attempting to dismiss with a smirk the efforts towards disarmament we have assiduously undertaken over the years," he said.

"We must make North Korea abandon all nuclear and ballistic missile programmes in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner.

"What is needed to do that is not dialogue, but pressure."

Mr Abe will speak with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday to offer his condolences for the Las Vegas shooting and to discuss North Korea's weapons programmes, according to a government source.

The only item i can see japan selling is some patrol boats. Everything else competes directly with the US in both capability and customers.

Six patrol boats, likely based on the 79 meter long Aso-class, to be built in Japan for Vietnam paid by loan worth about 350 million USD with delivery of last vessel by Oct 2025.

Chiếc đầu tiên do Mitsubishi Heavy Industries chế tạo trong khi hai chiếc còn lại do Japan Marine United chế tạo. (BBT)

My friend I am more interested of destroyers and submarines made by the rising sun! Just curious if Japanese government is willing to sell?

When you literally have zero knowledge in defense sector, don't even start it.

Question is if the US is willing to sell. Japanese destroyers are based on the Arleigh Burke class and the US has veto power on exports. Considering that the US aint even selling, it'll be a hard NO.

Hello Viet,
Japan will be interested in selling submarines since they did try selling them to Australia. But there are a lot of details regarding the subs so selling any to Vietnam won't come easy. Although technical assistance may come easier should Vietnam try to develop its own sub. While it has been kept fairly quiet, Japanese submarine experts have went to Taiwan to provide assistance to Taiwan's submarine program.

I think destroyers would be a natural step up from the exporting of coast guard vessels to Vietnam. And I think Japan may have an interest in exporting destroyers at some point. While Japan's larger DDGs such as the Kongo, Atako, and Maya-class include many US systems such as the battle system and radar system, the smaller destroyers/frigates have a much higher proportion of Japanese elements. So the possibility of exporting something in the range of 4000 to 6000 tons some day is not so hard to imagine.
