Japan and Netherlands to Join US Effort to Tighten Chip Exports to China


Shanghai Micro Electronics Equipment Group Co Ltd (SMEE), China's only lithography company, can produce 90-nanometers chips, well behind that of the Netherlands' ASML, which is producing those as low as 3 nanometers.​

Remember, it can take as long as two yrs for a new product to become commercially accepted, and each tech node qualifies as a new product. What it means is that for China's indigenous litho equipment to catch up from node 90, each successive node will have to be qualified as 'commercially accepted' even if there is no contracted customers.
Can USA alone produce 90nm lithography? I doubt that. 90nm can also produce 28nm or even smaller chips with multi exposures. Which can meet >95% semi-conductor demands

They have 28nm DUV Lithography now.

First China Made 28nm Lithography Machine Expected For Delivery in 2021​


With it, they can produce 7nm chip.

I, just like the US, do not know anything about semiconductor.

The problem for your argument is that I have explained more about semicon manufacturing than ALL of you guys combined. So I do not need to 'look' knowledgeable about the industry.

They may be small and weak atm but they shouldn't be underestimated imo. Japanese nationalism was a thing to be reckoned with in WW2, was just watching some documentaries on Kamikaze bombers.
while i agree that Japan should not be underestimated, Japan military's behavior recently seems to indicate its not very confident or assertive- 2 reasons - 1. US is a much less reliable and capable ally now and 2. Japan had considerable economic disadvantage.

Japan knows it wont be able to recover today if it enters a disastrous war, again.

China will soon dominate matured technology. That's where the money is.

Nonsense. You live in a dream land. Semiconductor is a strategic industry, probably the most important. No country in the world will give it to competition least enemy.

Military applications don’t need high dense chips, only commercial applications need it. For the latter China can’t do that. Not even in 100 years. That’s hopeless, if sanctions are in place. There are just few companies in the world that can make ultraviolet high precision light and high precision optics.
