What I don't understand is that these two nations were defeated and destroyed after World War 2 by the "Allied Powers".
Yet, Japan's technologies is far ahead from everyone and especially with no natural resources, 80% of the Japanese land consists of mountains and scattered islands, Japan's geographical location makes it prone to volcanoes and earthquakes and emerged from a destructive World War less than 70 years ago.
And Germany today has the strongest economics in Europe.
Can someone elaborate why the "Allied Powers" succeeded against these two yet still behind from them?
