J11b Pakistan future Navy jet fighter

@Oscar Thanks for the timely & informative post :-). Do you think in any future hostilities with India PAF might request few J-11Bs to handle IN & IAF threat at sea and coastline??

@Indischer why you have air force ranking here?? :what:

Highly doubt that. It's not like Pakistan can rent Flankers for some weeks. You need pilots trained on them for years, and ground crew to handle them.

It's not like transitioning from your Honda civic to your friend's BMW 3 series.

The answer of your question about training of pilots is in @Oscar post No.63 on this thread. Take a hint from there. :-)

Not really.

That's just one pilot. We would like to know more, that if he is flying on exchange terms or has he been a citizen of China.

For combat flying with Flankers, we would need a good 40-50 pilots trained on flankers and their weapons systems. PAF currently does not seem to have that.

According to some here PAF test flew the Rafale and Mirage 2000, doesn't mean we can fly the plane in wartime at a moment's notice

Why would PAF only post one pilot and specially who had so much experience of flying the F-16? PAF have plenty of its personal in China and after May 2, 2011 many things have changed, if you remember post 5/2 events between Pakistan and China, PAF may have some pact because they will need non western plane to handle NATO in west if worst happened (which may not).

There is no Flanker squadron ready. Pilots from many countries go on exchange to learn how others fight and(in the process) learn about how particular aircraft behave and their characteristics. These lessons are then incorporated back into the force for use within its training and wartime practices.

PAF pilots have been on exchange in Turkey, SA and other friendly nations.

A pilot flies "n" number of sorties every year as part of his training on a particular, and each sortie costs a hell of a lot of money (China will be paying that?), then there is the matter of devising operational and combat strategies, weapon testing, mating it with ground and AWAC units...flying a fighter once or twice does not qualify one to go to war with it in these modern times.

One interesting reference comes from a site.

MKI?????

Day dreaming continues....as of next 8 years the only future for PAF is JF-17 [150] and maybe 12-14 more F-16s, that's it. If anything Pak should invest into JF-17 program to make it something like Boeing's F-18 advanced super hornet that is the only way forward instead of going for a new type [currently PAF is not].

Boeing’s Advanced F/A-18 aircraft completes initial flight trials - Naval Technology
Instead of spending 45m+ each fly away costs [not including all other costs] on another type try working on a cheaper program.

Any references to show that PAF pilots have been training on these planes? It's the first time I'm hearing this.
.

dunya may bohat c batain martay dam tak pata nahi lagte.. you never knw anything what Pakistan military have or not... har chez har shaks kiliye nahe hote lol

Is he permanently stationed there, as in naturalized citizen or will he come back to PAF?

Maybe he just hasn't updated his profile. I mean its not like its mandatory for him to update his location on some random internet website

Agreed. WS-13A is slated to be in the class of F414, pumping out 22,000 lb of thrust. Once ready, RD-93 on all existing JFT can be replaced by WS-13A. :p:

Wait another five years, you will see various types of engines blossom in PLAAF. J16 is always a better choice than J11B for PAF. Two squadrons of J16 will be detrimental to IN.
