J-10C A sole international market for China's J-10 fighter jets is taking shape

Salaam

I honestly do not understand - and I would appreciate it if someone could explain it to me - why do we not got for J10s when we are willing to go for f16s that are sanction prone and such?

Especially, given how the Indians are inducting newer more advanced platforms and in aiming for larger numbers?

Surely, if J10s are good enough for the Chinese military to face off against the US, why aren't they so us? They have larger payload and range than jf17 - and likely would have a lot in common with jft.

Thank you to anyone who can explain. Thanks.

The one and only problem in inducting a new platform is Infrastructure. You have to train pilots, mechanics, build repair facility and have form a supply chain.

All these facilities are available for F-16. That's why PAF is still stuck on F-16s.

IMO PAF should wait till 2020 for more F-16s. If there are no more F-16s in sight then PAF should swallow hard pill and move towards J-10.

Even used f-16s have been blocked off until TiT gives ok. that is the only option.

If God Forbid there is a problem and it is clear the f16 dream is dead. Just say goodbye to the Fighting Falcon for good and move to Russian and Chinese options.
Cannot waste time anymore.

Keep the F-16s operational until the time comes to retire them, hopefully between 2030-2035.

PAF should be able to maintain 4 platforms.
1) New Advance Fighter (J-10, J-16, SU-35, etc)???
2) F-16s
3) JF-17 Block II/III
4) Mirage III/V (rose upgrade or Cheetah as suggested by few members)

*All older F-7s should retire/storage by 2023 except maybe few F-7pg.
*We should retire all older mirage before 2025 except maybe few Rose 3 upgraded mirage.
If we can get 25 to 30 used F-16 (upgrade them with the help from a Turkey, we can retire older plans.

J-16/Su-35 is least chance that we can get these bird in near or far future @jupiter2007

Mig-35 was offered by Russia but I doubt that PAF will go for it.
lets wait and see, but Su-35/J-16 have least chance to get it, J-16 based on Su-30MKK, hence it can't be exported because its design is Russian INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, Su-35 just forget it, we just started our warm relations with Russia, its too early to assume that Russia sell us any big ticket items (Su-35) in near future, Mig-35 has slight chance to get, and don't forget indian lobby in Russian doma, i think main reason for not accepting this offer by PAF is that IAF has almost same jet (MIG-29K), and bro Russian want a hard cash that we currently lacks, unlike USA/China which will sell their jets to Pakistan on CSF funds/ soft loans respectively @jupiter2007

J10c almost equal to F16 Block 60. One day We will regret our decision of pursuing with Jf-17 rather than J10c

No we will not ... first of all j10 is not equivallent of f16 block 0 as off now however in future the gap will reduce further.

Secondly thunder is our own fighter and it is meant to be work force and backbine of our airforce and accordingly a single platform has provided multiple capabilities which even f16s cant including but not limited to air defenece, BVR engagement, anti ship, anti radiation, survillance and percision strike capability with a mic of chinese foreign and local weapons ... j10 means depndibility on china for all this stuff ...

Furthermore j10 in future could be replacement of f16s role which after arrival of 5th generation will be of mid tear fighter solely responsible for support role of 5th generation in deep strike and critical missions ...

All in all thunder is providing 90% of the capability of j10 with much lower cost and full control ovee the platform is a much better choice ... the only advantage j10 having over thinder is its size and speed ...

Do we have the technology to build Cheetah frame or upgrade mirage to Cheetah plateform.

J10 have very powerful engine as well as its very fast 2.2 mach (probably fastest in Asia) and 11 hard point. Its can also carry more heavy weapons almost double to JF-17. Secondly our all know how about JF-17 came from china, and that could also come with J10 and one of the other advantage of J10 is that its quite similar to F16 which we flown from 35 years

Why to keep mirrages cheetah if strategic role can be assigned a mich more advance platform like thundee having mich higher survivaibilty? Plus i domt think Pakistan is looking for more than 3 platforms.

One is fifth generation for air superiority and deep strike.
Second is f16 if it gets future upgradation otherwise we might see an interim induction between indiction of thinder block 3 and fifth generation. The role is air supereriroity, air defence and to complement 5th generation fighter with higher fire power
Last is thinder being the work horse to fill the numbers and do all the necessary stuff under the cover high end fighters such as CAS, anti ship role, anti radiation role, air defence role, strategic role and ground attack role.

Mirrages dont fit anywhere.

Airframes are old.
Engine is fuel hungry and outdated.
Controls are hydraulic.
Avionics are outdated.
Only 5 hard points.
Load carrying capacity is small.

Even if we think that delta wing is the only solution for strategic role then we should build another aircraft based on mirrage design...

Investing further on this third generation fighter is a lost cause.

I think this might be the most logical plan until we get a fifth generation jet.
