The Type 054A also uses the hot launch VLS, but not as advanced as that of the Type 052D.

The Type 052D's versatile VLS is as advanced the MK-57, but even bigger with more missile packed capability.

The Type 054A's hot launch VLS is as advanced the MK-41, but smaller because the frigate has limited size to host the larger VLS.

And the SAM used by the Type 054A is the HQ-16 series. The range of this SAM varied from 25 to 75km, but I heard that the new version AKA the HQ-16Z has been improved to 150km or even more, which could be used to replace the HHQ-9 in the near future.

well i would prefer destroyers to be specially made to stop Flankers , short range sam's like we have in F-22p are not much enough to do the job ..
PN is also guided missile destroyers . if we can get from China on 10 year lease that would be great ..

Well, if a medium country like South Korea can maintain 3 Arleigh Burke class DDGs, then a bigger country like Pakistan shouldn't have much problem.

The main problem is the budget, and Pakistan needs a lot of effort to improve its economy. The modernization of the military is always about the budget.

South korea is small than us but their economy is 100 times better than us ... unlike south korea we are not open to get any tech we put our eyes on .. stuff is limited for us ..

It will be useful if the Type 054A can equip with the newest HQ-16Z.

Basically it can become a mini long ranged anti-air destroyer, except it still lacks the "Aegis" capability.

Money. Our economy has been exceptionally weak, so the military budget has been weak. Another reason why the military budget is weaker than usual is because we are AT WAR, right now, war is expensive, war is nothing but a black hole of lives and money. On top of that, our Navy gets the smallest chunk of the budget.

Also, last I checked in 2012, the Naval budget was decreased slightly, while army and AF budgets were increased, again it's to do with the pathetic state of the economy and war costs. In 2012, our Naval budget was $560 mill, with that small of a budget you can't expect PN to come up with a Naval fleet to 'match' it's enemy.

yeah it can be , in PN it can serve as Multi role or Destroyer ... i even like the existing Sam' s in Type54a .... what about the ASCM launchers ? 4x ??

I cant begin to describe to you how damaging the war since 2004 has been. War itself was the worst part, poor governance added to the misery.

Try guessing how much you think this war/insurgency/spillover from Afghanistan has cost us...

Far too small. Take that figure, double it, and it still doesn't cover how much damage the economy has sustained.

It seems unintuitive for a country the size of Pakistan, but it's the shocking truth. And the 'aid' we've received from the US has been overblown, only a fraction of the stated figures actually were allocated to us.

Not to mention the lives we've lost, by their tends of thousands.

OH Damn .... well and we still dont know till when we will fighting those scum bags , we have like 25-27 ban organizations , bloody uzbik tajiz and afghans roam freely like they are Pakistani citizens ...

Sub decision will be final by year end ..on google earth . I think they are constructing a sub of 66 Meter long at karachi ship yard (S20 is 66 meters long)

As for destroyers nothing heard for Type 054 A ... (3 OHP might come in future and will be upgraded to g class )

possibility of constructing more upgraded F22 P is highly probable
