During a visit to Israel in November, Argentine Minister for Security Patricia Bullrich finalised negotiations for the purchase of four SHALDAG-class fast patrol boats for the Prefectura Naval Argentina – the Argentine naval police force.
Manufactured by Israel Shipyards, the SHALDAGs, armed with 20mm automatic cannon, will be used to reinforce naval pólice authority in the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway, an area in which a large number of drug traffickers – principally from Paraguay – currently operate with relative impunity.
