Israeli security forces arrested in November a number of Palestinians in the West Bank who created a terrorist cell affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq, also known as ISIS, a gag order lifted on Sunday revealed.

According to the Shin Bet, which carried out the arrest operation along with the Israel Defense Forces, the members of the Hebron-based cell plotted terrorist attacks and one occasion rigged an explosive device near IDF forces.

One of the Palestinian suspects, named as Mohammed Zaro, was indicted two weeks ago at the Judea Military Court for illicit group membership and activity.

"The suspect worked in cahoots with another person to create a military cell of the ISIS organization, with the intention of acquiring weapons to carry out attacks against the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority," the Military Prosecution wrote in its announcement.

Two other suspects will be indicted in the coming days.

One of the suspects confessed during an interrogation with the Shin Bet that he had planned to create an ISIS cell to carry out attacks. He confessed to building explosives and to hurling one such explosive at an IDF patrol.

The Shin Bet says that during the interrogation, it emerged that two members of the cell planned to killed an IDF soldier and use his weapon and uniform to carry out a shooting attack.

According to the Shin Bet, the two set out to carry out the attack by reneged before doing so.

Thank you @Natan . I have been reading that Jordan and Israel have been cooperating in securing their contiguous border -- given threat of infiltrators from ISIS-occupied parts of Iraq. Important , in this critical junction, is the stability of Jordan and Israel -- especially right now.

I hope and pray that remains to be so -- for the immediate to long term future.

There are discussions in some Israeli forums about the possibility of IDF aiding Jordan on its northern or eastern border against ISIS, if the situation there worsen. Airstrikes on ISIS targets wouldn't be something we can't do if Jordan needs help.
