India's foreign policy is much more independent than Pakistan's. I believe more people in Pakistan however want better relations with Iran but our foreign policy which has been sold to the US does not allow this. India on the other hand is growing assertive and assertiveness comes with strong economic growth.

They are far more independent than us and that is the reason they are in a better position to establish relations with Iran. We on the other hand could not even go forward with the Iran Pakistan gas pipeline. Personally I love Iran's own foreign policy. Bowing before no one and acting strong and mighty though its military might compared to that of US and Israel is barely anything.

I think Israeli authorities have lost some nuts and bolts.... Until IS and rebels are defeated, there is no reason to attack Assad. I mean, we have heard Israel destroying Assad assets (army posts, military vehicles) when some stray rounds landed inside it's border. IS might be saying thank you to Israel, and next time clashes break out near border, they will not fire towards Assadist forces but towards Israel

Methinks Israel is resenting the growing alliance between Syria, Iran, and the West against ISIS.

Israeli officials, Netanyahu included, have made a number of weird statements to the effect that Hezbollah is the devil and that ISIS/Al Qaeda are not so bad as the press makes them out to be. They clearly prefer ISIS to succeed in Syria and Lebanon as a means of weakening Hezbollah and Iran.

Air Defence yes but S-300? S-300 is a monster Air Defence system.

Israelis have a right to be scared and have the balls to do something to overcome their fears.

Russia can sell Syria other SAM systems. It has quite a range with a huge variety. Many of which can be be neutralised by F-16 in SEAD/Wild Weasel. But going up against S-300 the F-16 would be fried.



Because its pointless? Syria is on verge of being overrun by AQ,FSA,ISIS etc etc and Syria is buying Very Long Range SAM systems whereas they need to be buying tactical battlefield weapons to turn the tide and secure the country.

Does it make more sense to launch rockets and mortars at ISIS positions or supersonic yakhont cruise missiles?

None of mentioned groups can stand against Syrian Army and it's allies .

Aleppo is about to fall and that will change everything in region . The main threat comes from the west and Turkey , Its possible that they try to enter the war to stop that . In this situation , A strategic Air defense system can be useful .

Turkey already started supporting terrorists with everything it has in order not to let Aleppo fall , the example is building and fixing the roads in north Aleppo , organizing terrorists in attacking Nuble and Zahra in north west of Aleppo and meanwhile opening a front in Jamiya Zahra to buy time .

My guess is Israel is helping the US\Western preparing for a ground invasion soon. Could be a surprise assault.

Ironically, all Israel attacks on Syria empowers terror groups like Nusra or ISIS at the end.
