Islamic Republic of Pakistan stares at bankruptcy 72 years after Independence

If survival is the height of your ambition then you should be fine. Just as mongrel street dogs and the beggars in the streets. Others countries have higher aspirations then just to "survive".
Just like india..having all strategic advantages it still no different than Pakistan

"Despite his (Asad Umar) assertion that he would like to ask the IMF for money only after exhausting other preferred options, he has at least once hinted at seeking dollars from every source available. “The (external account) situation is so dire, we don’t have the luxury of choosing one option, but will have to plan all options in parallel, including the IMF support,” he had told a media briefing last week.

Pakistan had run up a current account of $18bn during the last financial year.

Mr Umar told this correspondent that he could not say anything about the exact size of the country’s financing requirements for the ongoing year because he did not have access to official numbers. However, leading economist Dr Hafiz Pasha had recently told Dawn that Pakistan’s financing needs stood around over $26bn.

This compares with the IMF estimates of $27bn and the finance ministry’s calculation of $23bn. The former caretaker finance minister was of the view that the incoming government would be facing a massive financing gap of around $12bn during the current year."

It is a tough situation no doubt, but we must wait for the strategy implemented by the new government once it takes office.

Problem is if he doesnt go for IMF investors will remain nervous..its added effect..i think even if he doesnt want to go to IMF he should get a stand by or restructuring deal...

There's a big big difference. On the 72nd anniversary of our Independence, here in India we are discussing if India will indeed be able to send human into space before 2022, while in Pakistan the discussion is all about how big will be the bailout package from IMF. That's the difference between just surviving and prospering.

wow, indians do have loose screw...
so what, USSR send human to space first but ignore social development..look where it ended

Our's is a issue of mismanagement and corruption not lack of resources

Even our search of IMF loan is small compared to the 10s of billions required or requested by countries like Greece or Argentina and could easily be dealt with after initiation of good fiscal policy

People should never go full retard,
I think the baseline with this logic is to get a community to focus a majority for change.

So the same principle could be applied to savings for eg. 50% and one Pakistani contributing 100rs a month to say the dam- that is approx 9.5 billion rupees each month.
And therein lies the problem. Unity.
