To secure funding for the project, the CDA’s planning wing has approached international donors such as the Asian Development Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). They have prepared a basic concept paper, but a consultant is required to conduct a detailed feasibility study.

Four potential routes have been identified for the LRT system, including a 30.5km route from Rawat to Faisal Mosque, a 13.7km route from N5 to Pakistan Monument, a 27.5km route from Rawat to 26 No Stop, and a 10.4km route from Pirwadhai to Faizabad.

While the planning process has started, there are challenges in implementing the project due to the need for significant funding and political stability.

Some routes make sense, some absolutely don't.

Why would you have a rail system running on the same route as a bus metro?

Moreover, would be interesting to see what they do with this. Do they run an overhead, or underground, or ground level?

Can't wait to see how they fck up this project.

What Islamabad needs on an urgent basis is:

1- Paid parking in markaz
2- More parking plazas
3- Tolled entry into Islamabad from expressway and out of the city

And this is the most important:
4- Intra city transport

Throwing someone off to Pakistan Monument, Faisal mosque or wherever isn't going to do anything.

Vast sectors of Islamabad, G10, 11, F11, F10, E11 and more, where the bulk of the population lives, have no access to this transportation system and is at the mercy of the transporters or have to use their own cars.

Instead of these fancy projects, have an efficient intra city transport system first, it doesn't need those gimmicks neither does it need huge funding.

But maybe that is why it isn't being made either.
