Seems to me the younger brother who has lived under the shadow of his older brother smells blood and is making his move...

Tehmina asks Nawaz not to put CM Shahbaz in a tight spot

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should have been spared the responsibility of protecting and assisting his own party’s rally, says his wife Tehmina Durrani.

The impassioned plea hardly augurs well for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif who has found a critic in his own family of his decision to come to Lahore from Islamabad in a rally. Ms Durrani questions him (Nawaz) why he burdens his younger brother for “saving the day” for him.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Ms Durrani said it was very callous to put the chief minister in this position.

Unlike other members of the family, Ms Durrani has been quite vocal and candid on matters related to the Sharifs.

“If I were to advise Mian Nawaz Sharif Sb, I would have requested him to address the nation instead of putting a most loyal brother - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif - in such a contradictory position. The CM Punjab should have been spared the responsibility of both protecting and assisting his own party rally. It is very callous to put him in this position,” she tweeted.

She, however, denies the impression of rift in the family. “There is no rift in the Sharif family. My past proves I speak ‘freedom’,” she added.

Unimpressed by Nawaz’s decision to put the responsibility of the rally that is likely to stretch more than three days on the shoulders of his younger brother, she says: “My past proves I speak ‘freedom’. CM Shahbaz responsible to save ‘the day’ is a ruthless and uncaring demand on him (by Nawaz Sharif).”

When the Panama Papers issue hit the headlines in April 2016, she had demanded that the offshore wealth be returned to the nation (by the Sharif family).

“The offshore companies, foreign properties and accounts may be legal but these are unethical. The only way to clear Sharif name is to keep the minimum, simplify life drastically, return all foreign and local wealth to the nation,” was what she advised.

There has been talk in the PML-N Punjab camp that Nawaz Sharif “smartly deprived” Shahbaz of an opportunity to become prime minister because the former does not want his role in party affairs curtailed. After his disqualification by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case on July 28, Nawaz had announced that Shahbaz would be the prime minister for the remaining 10-month tenure of the party after interim arrangements of 45 days for which Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was elected premier.

There is no guarantee, goes one argument, that Shahbaz will get the same chance in 2018 in case the PML-N wins the election because Kulsoom Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz may be in the race for the top slot.

2018 election is Shahbaz's to lose... he probably doesn't want to become Nawaz's "dummy PM" .

Let's sit back and watch the fireworks... pass the popcorn please.

Tehmina’s tweets set tongues wagging

LAHORE: The fulmination of Tehmina Durrani, wife of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, lends credence to the perception about rift in the Sharif family.

A day after requesting ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to “spare Shahbaz Sharif the responsibility of protecting and assisting his own party’s rally,” Ms Durrani went a step ahead and held Nawaz’s “immature advisers” responsible for his ouster. The comment set the tongues wagging whether she is speaking on her own or on behalf of Shahbaz Sharif.

In another series of tweets on Thursday, she asked Nawaz Sharif to fire his media team and “sycophants”.

“Please fire your ‘failed’ media team. Banish all sycophants from sight. They are responsible for your statesmanship becoming an ‘under 19’ game,” she tweeted.

Commenting on the tweet, a PML-N leader from Punjab told Dawn that Ms Durrani apparently referred to the media that was engaged by Maryam Nawaz to hit out at the party opponents and defend Nawaz and his children in the Panama Papers case.

Ministers Marriyum Aurangzeb, Talal Chaudhry and Daniyal Aziz (who was once a right-hand man of Gen Musharraf) and MNA Maiza Hamid are said to be members of Maryam’s media team. During the course of Panama Papers proceedings, they went the extra mile to defend Nawaz Sharif and his children and take on PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) says both Talal and Aziz have been “rewarded for their hard work” through induction in the cabinet of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Ms Durrani also took on the advisers to Nawaz whose “ill-advice” caused him unceremonious departure from the Prime Minister House.

“Nawaz Sharif Sahib you hired the most mediocre advisers. You rejected your most sincere, politically experienced and astute colleagues. Your advisers are immature, untutored in vision - your welfare and your role - they lost it for you. Pakistan is a complicated nation... they don’t know,” went another tweet.

It added, “Nawaz Sharif lost the opportunity of making Pakistan a social welfare state. I pray that Nawaz Sharif Sahib arrives home safely... and fires all his advisers.”

Chaudhry Nisar has already categorically said the Panama Papers case had been mishandled both legally and politically.

As for Nisar’s argument, the PML-N leader regretted: “The PML-N hawks like Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, Mashidullah Khan and Abid Sher Ali are to be blamed for their advice to Nawaz to have aggressive approach in handling the Panama case and the PML-N opponents.”

Ms Durrani also spoke out for the people affected by the PML-N rally. “Who will pay for the profit and loss of hotels and shops - government? Instead of counting ‘heads’ on GT Road, provide for these and all other ‘heads’ across Pakistan. The government does not have authority to block a main road that belongs to the state and people for its own use. This is illegal order,” she said.

The social media was abuzz with comments as many asked whether she (Ms Durrani) was speaking the language of Shahbaz Sharif or venting out her frustration for not getting the chance of becoming the ‘first lady’.

Another PML-N leader has this to say: “Shahbaz Sharif has intellectual compatibility with Ms Durrani. It is not possible that Shahbaz would not have discussed the current situation with Ms Durrani and there is a possibility that he would have talked about his predicament....”

Seems like the split between the Sharif brothers is getting heated ... Shabbaz has released his hound to attack on social media... to claim the throne for himself devoid of the big brother nudging him to be a puppet for him.

Interesting

I've a feeling that it's just media and opposition trying to make such stories and there's nothing wrong between brothers.

pmln has no future in Pakistan .if ik fails to deliver after becoming pm then ppp will be winner again

Seems odd the wife will make such tweets... I'm sure she isn't doing it without Shahbaz's approval or understanding.

Nothing in the field of politics is a fluke... its like a chess game... every move means something.

ISLAMABAD: Tehmina Durrani is a Pakistani women's rights activist and author. In her first book, 'My Feudal Lord', she described a story of her abusive and disturbing first marriage to ex-Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar.

In 2003, she married Shahbaz Sharif. Nawaz was not happy with the marriage and, according to family sources, had barred his brother from bringing her to family estate in Raiwind, Lahore.

Considered as top unofficial adviser of her husband, she lives in Model Town, Lahore.

On Thursday, Tehmina Durrani to Twitter to attack Nawaz Sharif saying he was heeding to "the most mediocre advisers a leader could have chosen".

Tehmina Durrani's attack on Nawaz comes a day after he had made it clear that the appointment of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as PM was not a stop gap arrangement.

On Thursday, Tehmina criticised her brother-in-law for shutting down businesses of people on the historic Grand Trunk Road by deciding to return to Lahore, his hometown, in a procession.

A woman scorned... now wants Nawaz Sharif's head on a platter...

She know the so-called lion is wounded... now is the time to go for jugular and make her husband the new King.... And in turn her children's right to the Sharif throne.

Am I the only one seeing this go down or what???

. .
Nawaz Sharif's buddies will never let Shahbaz become the next PM or they risk being sidelined. Imagine Rana Sanaullah as the next interior minister--will be a bigger disaster than Rehman Malik.
