In an interview with the New York Times, Harry Sarfo, a resident of Bremen who joined IS in late 2014, said a special cell of the group had sent out hundreds of jihadists worldwide
A former IS member who escaped the terrorist group’s territory and is now in jail in Germany has said that the group has trained recruits to carry out attacks in Bangladesh.

In an interview with the New York Times, Harry Sarfo, a resident of Bremen who joined ISIS in late 2014, said the operation had sent out hundreds of jihadists worldwide.

Under a special force named Emni, the Islamic State’s internal security unit, recruits were trained to go back home to carry out attacks, beginning about two years ago.

The leader of that group is Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, a Syrian who is possibly the highest decision maker for external activities of IS, according to the report.

ISIS has been trying to build an infrastructure in Bangladesh, giving particular preference to people who were previously in Al Qaeda, Sarfo said.

“People especially from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia — they have people who used to work for Al Qaeda, and once they joined the Islamic State, they are asking them questions about their experiences and if they have contacts,” he told New York Times’ Rukmini Callimachi.

ISIS has claimed the Gulshan attack, an unprecedented armed assault on a restaurant that killed 24 people, mostly Japanese and Italians on July 1.

The attackers were five young men, at least one of whom were known to police as a Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operative.

There is an important observation : All the upper class ISIS terrorists were radicalized abroad and students of English medium.

They gathered few Madrasa educated as executioner.

What makes Middle Class Bengalis immune to ISIS??

OUR TOLERANT BENGALI CULTURE> THOSE WHO LOVE JASIMUDDIN , SHARATCHANDRA CAN NOT BE RADICALIZED.

Wrong. Most of the middle-class Bangla Medium students have great social life. They have the opportunity to participate in social, political and cultural activities and have better recognition for their academic/social achievement. Madrasa/English medium schools lack all of these.

If you can't sit at a tong with tea and cigarette(with the occasional plain cake or chitoi pitha) and instead have to spend your time in a make believe world where nobody speaks you language and have to sip coffee at gloria jeans you would be pretty susceptible to fucked up thoughts too.
You make an important point about participation in political discussion and activities...EM students tend be less aware of the details of national politics....so when they realize how messed up Bangladeshi bureaucracy and politics is they start sympathizing with ideas of one magical Khalifa who will instantly solve everything for every country...one solution for the corruption in Bangladesh to the crisis in Gaza.

Oh hello,I study in English Medium too.In English medium schools, students are taught more about educational stuff than AL/BNP BS.We are not taught to do politics, but to study so that we can have a better life.Plus we are taught to be secular minded, not in mythical bla bla mindstate like some Bengali medium schools out here.

Unless ofcourse you are going to study at Monash in Malaysia...in that case it prepares you for a better afterlife.

Whats Monash?
