That was exactly what was happening before Rangers operation. Gangs fighting it out among each other and that has been happening since MQM came into being. I am of the opinion that rangers operation should stop as it is benefiting MQM as Altaf is putting up an oppressed face. His letter to India is big news in Indian press and insult to Pakistan. In all honesty Rangers should stop Karachi operation and leave Karachi to MQM / PPP / ANP / Layari gangs so that they can fight it out among each other. Why bother?
Most MQM supporters will die if asked by their leader Altaf Hussain . So why bring humiliation to the country for saving them from criminals? You cant give peace to a people who don't like peace and are addicted to violence and their leader's wishes are more important than theirs and their family's lives and livelihoods. Rangers are making a futile effort and wasting national resources which can be better used elsewhere.
It may also be appropriate to release all arrested criminals including those of MQM so that they can go back to the city and do what they been doing.
As i said before, it is too late now. Better to accept and support rangers tackling gangsters to reduce criminal activity.
Regard Altaf putting up an oppressed face, the only way he or the party will survive if something uninterruptedly comes in the middle in form of rescuing. Before Musharraf, PMLN was very close to finish MQM, but after what the takeover of Musharraf allowed MQM to flourish and let TTP be born during the same era.
It is not that hard to eliminate crime network altogether, but something always come up. Once again, PMLN has authorized full-force operation against MQM and TTP. Similar Musharraf-style was attempted but failed miserably due to understanding between General Raheel and PMLN. Otherwise, MQM would be put on the map.
Right now, MQM is dying, and all MQM needs is final push to forever become extinct. I truly hope no interference come between General Raheel Sharif and PM Nawaz Sharif.
Karachi will be back as fully whole, but to ensure seeing Karachi as fully whole, it is imperative that Nawaz Sharif has full control over Karachi. Right now, starting from the scratch, and as long as General Raheel cooperates PM Nawaz Sharif, and PMLN's tenure is extended to the next term as well, then future is bright for Karachi. A lot of investments in Karachi were derailed as proposed by Nawaz Sharif in the past thank to MQM-PPP. The day is not that far that Karachi will taste progressive society city.
For others as you mentioned above, sound good for discussion in term hypothetical scenario. Since the plan has already started, too late to back off now and we have to trust that both PMLN and General Raheel have plans for organized crime networks in Karachi.
