What's new

Is it time for a new OIC? |-| Organization of 57 Muslim Countries

Didn't Raheel Sharif only agree to command IMCTC on the condition that Iran must be a part of it?
Only media reports. Right now, IMCTC is working on capacity building and formulating framework/SoPs, rules and institutionalizing the work. It is still far from being operationalized but hopefully in a couple of years, it will initialize properly.
Currently, only 41 members are part of it which excludes countries like Iran for political reasons.
Right now, The OIC member states are fighting within themselves and I don't see how to can effectively cooperate in such environment.
IMCTC will only work when a shared threat will appear. Raheel Sharif major role right now is to develop the IMCTC for its role. And, I think the first campaign will probably be in Africa against Boko Haram and al-Shabab because the member states agree to them as common threat.

No, Super State will not last long. There will be huge conflict every times any succession comes, every nation wants his leader to be appointed as Khalifah. It can even lead to war within the super state. Better using effective Block like EU for economic cooperation (making one currency) and like NATO for military cooperation.
Hence, it needs to have a rotating governing body for the alliance of the states into a Super State!! Something like EU, but without its pitfalls..

Definitely could work if you have the like minded leadership.

The Islamic groups mentioned before want to destroy all Muslim states and then make a unified state, and call it Khilafah. They dont accept the flags, the name of the country, borders, the army, intelligence agency. For them all these different countries are like alien, this is why they have deep hatred towards them. I can understand making a one big Muslim state, like how Russia is but the reality is it will lead to chaos. We need to take step by step towards unity.

If your trying to unify the state then at the moment this will lead to conflicts, but what if you make a block of Muslim States which are willing to work together, call it Sultanate and then every 5 years rotate the leadership. The leadership gets all the advice from the parliament of Muslim nations, call it Majjlis Shura. All the countries can manage their own affairs. Just sign agreements to protect each state from foreign attacks, make joint military force as well as the state armies etc

It would definitely be nice to see a new bloc between Turkey, Qatar, Iran, and Pakistan called the Sultanate, it would spook the Saudis and Israelis. Rotate the leadership between each country every few years as you said.

Yeah but that's the problem. Africa is small peanuts compared to what's going on in West Asia. If IMCTC cannot deal with the real problems for which it was created like Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, and Afghanistan, then it was worthless. IMCTC was never supposed to be a place where countries agree, it was supposed to be where countries can argue their differences. But the Saudis never intended for it to be anything more than a cheap political tool to antagonize Iran so of course it can't get anything done.

Leaving Iran out of IMCTC was monumentally stupid because it only isolates and excludes them further. If Iran was included in IMCTC, then there could be some common ground for dialogue to resolve differences diplomatically instead of on the battlefield. But the Saudis didn't give Iran the diplomatic option by excluding them from all major blocs so of course Saudis get their *** whipped by Iran on the battlefield.

For a new force, Africa would be a good start. And no, Africa itself has a great share of destruction from terrorism.

It was wrong and as mentioned before, politically motivated. Let's hope all Muslim nations are included in it soon.

There should be a new bloc composed of

Turkey
Iran
Pakistan
Qatar
Russia
China

Most of the existing OIC members have either poor economies, conflict zones and are already toothless. The more rich countries are finding their Petro-economies in doldrums....The world will be different post COVID...It's time to dissolve OIC instead and connect with rest of the world like civilised countries...and not as Muslim first, Human second attitude.

. .
Didn't the last time something of sort to replace OIC was tried, Saudis stopped one of the founding members to attend the meeting ?

Countries who can't even attend meetings of their own choosing should be least bothered about new OIC.

Only when India pull out its occupier terrorists from Indian occupied Kashmir.

Ohh Please! don't go to off topic. Pakistan is not a saint country as well if I go by your way.

On Topic- Being a top 5 Population, India deserve it! Pakistan is a part of OIC and not a decision maker of OIC. Later or sooner, India will be part of OIC. But, I hope that sooner will be better.

The OIC is useless. Most of these so called OIC members refused to blame China for putting Uighur Muslims in concentration camps with Imran Khan making a joke of himself when questioned about it. He then goes and makes a bigger joke of himself by calling for Muslim unity.

Even the only Muslim leader Erdogan who voiced himself against China went silent right after a trade deal was made with China.

In fact the ones who voiced and brought up the issue most are non-Muslim Western countries.
Yes OIC is useless so is UNO. Where is the proof that uyghurs are being gased or genocide happening as you claim?

IMO Uyghur issue is similar to what the issue in Balochistan or Kurd region. None of them will succeed in what they are doing. You can't commit terrorism against the govt just to force them to accept your demands. Simple.

The reason why Kashmir(IOK) & Palestine issue is different is because they are illegally occupied territories and disputed regions recognized by the world. If India occupy Bangladesh sylhet or Dhaka then it is justifiable to fight the occupiers same goes for Kashmiris. Remember the west pushing supporting for Ukraine rebals to fight Russia on Crimea? Because Russia occupied that region. Solve these Muslim issues instead of poking nose in other countries legal internal matters(same goes for Pakistanis who fall for Bharti and west propaganda on uyghurs and compare IOK with Uyghur).

We never claimed we are Saint country or SUPA PAWA. I simply told you why bhart will not be part of OIC. Neither India nor Israel will be part of it. India has to pull its occupier terrorists first to get accepted.

Remember Pakistan is the founding member of that organization.

The collective islam has huge rifts, divided by sect, divided by ethnicity (Arab/Turk/persian/kurd... etc), the Sunni/Shia divide in particular is ravaging any sense of unity, many started abandoning their Islamic heritage in favor of foreign ideologies.

Islam for some has become a tool for expansion and political gain, any talk of a unified islamc bloc will not acheive anything of value the way things are now.
