Is Indian stock market overvalued?

American stock market with a GDP growth of 2% on average commands a PE of 18, while Indian stock market with an average GDP growth rate of 6% has a PE of 22. It’s fairly valued, if not undervalued, considering FMCG, construction, energy consumption or automobile sector is showing double digit or close to double digit growth.

I would consider P/E of 20 as a Sell opportunity and a P/E of 15 as a Buy opportunity. By that measure, India is a Sell, U.S. is a Hold and other countries are a Buy. Of course, that is just my opinion and not an investment advice.

You need to compare it with Emerging market, then you will know whether it is overvalued or not
