Is India The Next Space Superpower? | Unveiled

.
What exactly is a space super power?

Good question. Possibly a country with :

1. The ability to build space station entirely.

2. Operating machinery on the Moon or Mars or other worlds ( Venus etc ).

3. Plans of or operating a human base on Moon or Mars.

In the past the first two were done by USSR and USA.

Thank you bro for the post. I believe Indian space program is spectacular and it would be among top 5 easily.

Well, the Indian government space agency ( ISRO ) has the plan of sending two people to space in 2022 and to this end four people have completed training in Russia. We will have to see how it goes. That is about the government agency. In addition there are at least three private groups who are building payload launch capability. This would be for small payloads ( 100 to 300 kgs I think ). Their names I have listed in post# 10. I hope they develop into human space flight capability.

The current Indian space program, private or government, is not spectacular when compared to SpaceX, Blue Origin, Russia and China but growing. I think it will become much better in five to ten years because it will have the example of SpaceX which intends to send its Starship spacecraft to do a round of Mars orbit in 2024.

I applaud your rational approach to Indian space development and I do not know which idiot (American or Indian) who make that video but obviously , a lot of Indian are simply overblown or living in delusion of the real level of ISRO standing with NASA. given the amount of comment I seen from that and I am quite sure. Many are from genuine Indian.

Indian space development advancement can be easily derail if they didnt keep their head cool and blind by success. The failure of India soft landing on Moon is a great example when ISRO scientist are too overly confident and overlook the magnitude of the task ahead and resulted in failure.

I seriously believe these video are made by non indian to derail India space advancement with delusion boasting to misled India space progress.

Thank you. And I agree that quite a few Indians are too patriotic ( ultra-nationalist really ) to the extent that they do not realize the what things remain to be done and where are the flaws.

Agreed. And many Indians don't try to know the full information of a certain space mission. For example, these people say that ISRO's Chandrayaan craft found water on the Moon while it was an American passenger instrument on the Chandrayaan which detected the traces of water. The same set of Indians will say that the Chinese Mars orbiter craft Yinghuo-1 didn't leave Earth's atmosphere and crashed into the sea but they won't admit that this craft was a passenger on a Russian craft which was the one that failed.

All I can say is that some Indians should develop rational thought and not get over-exited in nationalism.

Sadly no, here is realistic ranking of space agencies and firms
NASA
Roscosmos
CNSA
SpaceX
ULA
ESA
JAXA
ISRO

like all Indians I am proud of ISRO and what they have achieved so far despite all the constrains and challenges but honestly it's achievements started to get overhyped by western media thats causing it to develop laid back attitude. With even more western companies like Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic joining the fray, the space competition is gonna get more intense and India might loose out if it doesn't keep on innovating and so it's important to get private sector firms involved in country's space program.

Brother SpaceX is backed by NASA lots of former NASA's scientists/engineers/ astronauts working for SpaceX that's why SpaceX is so successful

Agreed. Hence my mentions of those three private Indian companies.

Agreed but how is SpaceX being continuously innovative than NASA ? Perhaps something in its approach ? For example is there a NASA equivalent of SpaceX's Starship system ? SpaceX has already said that an unmanned Starship will do a roundabout of Mars orbit in 2024. Does NASA have a similar plan ?

From what little I know I don't think NASA isn't even testing the promising electric propulsion system called VASIMR which is being developed by the Ad Astra Rocket Company that was set up by a former NASA astronaut.

A third world country making strides in space program is always commendable whether it makes it to top 5 or 10. Moreover the budget can play a critical role when it comes to making it to the top.

No i think NASA don't have similar rocket like Starship, they are focusing and building SLS for manned Moon Missions as well as Lunar gateway

And what what do you mean roundabout of Mars??? sorry i didn't understand you, you mean unmanned Starship will goes on Mars orbit and come back to earth????

"Manned Moon missions"... What about SpaceX's Starship version for Moon and Blue Origin's craft for the Moon ? How are they related to the Gateway and SLS ?

That is what I think. Or maybe the unmanned craft will land on Mars. I quote this article from February this year :
In October, Musk said the space company has a "fighting chance" of sending an uncrewed Starship rocket to Mars in 2024 - two years later than he previously hoped. He echoed his ambition in December saying he is "highly confident" SpaceX will launch an uncrewed rocket to the planet in 2024, followed by a crewed mission in 2026.

With five and a half years to go, experts say SpaceX may be waiting a few more years to achieve its goal.
Some doubts and some projections if you read the article.

Yeah USA have aim that NASA will build permanent space base there in Mid 2030 , Currently SpaceX is offering NASA the Cargo version of Starship, and i didn't understand this either Why Blue Origrin developing spacecraft for the moon, if NASA is already developing Orion Spacecraft??? may be as a backup if Orion spacecraft will fail or Starship+ Blue Origin's craft
That is what I think. Or maybe the unmanned craft will land on Mars. I quote this article from February this year :
If they have plan to land on Mars (unscrewed) than its main mission will be Sample return mission NASA have a similar plan but set for much later date (after 2030)

Actually with the number of engineers and scientists that India has and the reasonably large industrial base it has there should have been an Indian Mars colony by now.
Mars colony is a stupid idea both morally and financially, not to mention it is not going to happen at least till 2050. Billionaires like Musk should first terraform/greenify the vast tracts of Sahara instead.
