Is Foreign Aid a Blessing or a Curse For Pakistan?

To be honest with you my first choice was the prestigious LUMS in Lahore. I was rejected. GWU accepted my application and I am just blessed to have a supportive family who lent (not gave) the money for the tuition. I'm also fiscally conservative and dug into the modest savings I had. I didnt leach off your Obama govt. the way the leftists/marxists/democraps and the illegals there do.

And Solomon, with all due respect - you dont know me or what i'm about. I may be an asshole but i dont cheat, lie or play games. I dont know to whom you are addressing your post -but the questions you raise are immaterial to this discussion.

Ps. This reminds me of the debates I have with those who have sunk their head in tub of religious water. When they say "interest" is haram in Islam. What they forget is that this is interest for money borrowed from corporate legal entities governed and regulated by government in the manner and way they charge interest and move on you on failure to pay your loan. This is not within the definition of "usury" which is more akin to borrowing money from loan sharks who are unregulared, charge exhorbitant rates and use criminal and violent ways to enforce their "extraction" from those who are sorry enought to have borrowed from them. Not that my argument ever dents their closed off thinking.

In the same manner when officials from governments agree to take grants or borrow money from other states or international entities is NOT begging as much as borrowing from banks is not usury. Point being Pakistan is NOT a beggar. They are legal agreements made by (wo)men in suits.

However what is real is 2 million unfortunate Indian's including women from Non Beggar India have to tether themselves to rickshaws like animals. That is disgusting if not darn outright iinhumane and something you need to lick and reflect on instead of passing remarks about Pakistan.

Countries are legal entities. Begging relates to individuels. As much as a country can't get pregnant or fall in love the word "begging" is not appropriate definition of aid. I expect Pakistan to gouge as much benefit out of any given situation because that is self interest. Marshall Aid to Europe can hardly be used as a synonym for begging.

My point was if it came to it, I would expect my government to arrange or extract the best financial advantage it could as long as our people are fed and avoid having to be shackled or "tethered donkeys" as 2 million do in India to buy some bread. That is height of infamy to my eyes. I have no ambivalence toward aid although I would be concerned how well and effectively it is used.

You can choose to deflate "beasts of burden" in India but it is sad reflection on Indian state that it's poor have to do what animals do in other countries. That is damning if not disgusting.

was upset for a while but being a person with soft heart and thinking for hours,i came to the conclusion that indians being the poorest community on earth and that is to remain so for the next few centuries,they need far more aid than us

Of course its a curse. People need to become real citizens of their country (Pakistan), start paying their taxes and within two-three years, you won't need the foreign aid.

Pakistanis here, will sing ALL kinds of anti government songs and anthems. But won't do what patriot country men do, won't pay taxes (and haven't been for the past 70 years), won't like a system being put in place, and won't want the democracy to run. But, the jungle rule, the sit-ins, the terrorism, no jobs, sectarian violence, intolerance, pathetic leaders without credentials, is ALL fine!!! I've not seen more hypocrites anywhere in the world, compared to this forum!!!

Help your country, pay taxes, work hard, be a part of the system and support peaceful growth and build tolerance. Pakistan in 5 years with politician and internal stability can beat a LOT of other countries economically!!!

but some people do pay tax but they still don't get public service for free. The politicians keep breaking promises.
we have habit of importing but not supporting local industries. local industries are not paying fare wages too.
we only have cake and burger stores n no real industry no machine tools, no electricity.
we need Stalin style ruler that is the truth.

Taxes and Politicians at this point in life, are two separate issues. Let's say, if the country needs $ 100 worth of taxes to be collected to pay for all basic services to people, but they only collect $ 40, you are still short of $ 60. So you are right, people who paid $ 40, still won't see their Taxes at work, as its lower than needed. But then, when you actually get $ 100 in taxes, and you don't have aid, etc, and you don't see any benefits provided, then you shouldn't vote for those leaders, or take them to SC for an investigation (btw, loans will always be there to some capacity as that's how the world does business)
