ADELAIDE - Ireland cricket team keen to tour Pakistan and play a series of matches against Pakistan.

“Cricket Ireland has expressed their willingness to tour Pakistan and play matches there,” said Richard HoldsWorth, Director Performance Ireland Cricket before flying back to Belfast on Monday with the Ireland team. William Porterfield’s Irish team went of the World Cup after suffering a seven wickets defeat at the hands of Pakistan in their last league encounter at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, reports Ehsan Qureshi. He recalled that contacts were made with Pakistan Cricket Board in January for the tour but it was put on hold due to some security issues. “I am sure discussions will recommence when we hear from the Pakistan Cricket Board on the tour,” he said. “We want more matches with the full members and Pakistan has been one of the few nations willing to play with Ireland - they have twice toured in the past four years - to help fill their own need for matches,” Richard commented.

As per the new format, the International Cricket Council (ICC) handed Ireland the chance to qualify for the 2019 World Cup directly for the first time, should we be ranked in the top-eight. Under the new system, Ireland and Afghanistan will no longer play in the World Cricket League Championship - the 50-over tournament for associate and affiliate nations - and instead go up against the other 10 full-member. PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan has said they wanted to have matches with the Ireland cricket team subject to availability of window.

Emotions aside, not a right time to visit.

The country is going through troubled time and it will take a while to put things in place.

It's just an intention.

It will still take a year for it to bear any fruits. I don't see a game this year at all and by next year they're hoping things will be better. Thus they don't have to make intention and look at schedule before coming.

Plus we have to improve our cricket grounds, since both Zimbabwe and Ireland have shown interest to visit. And Sri Lanka may also visit a year after these two nations play.

I still don't agree with them visiting. Even if there are no attacks for one whole year, they will be keen to attack these teams so as no international team comes again for next decade. It's already been some 7-8 years since last attack that a test nation has visited Pakistan.

I wish, the time come soon.

As a cricket fan, it hurts seeing cricket getting screwed up in Pakistan, always a nation which adds up to cricketing value.
