Iranian warship points weapon at U.S. helicopter, official says - CNN

Washington (CNN)An Iranian warship briefly pointed weapons on its deck at a U.S. military helicopter and coalition warship two weeks ago in the Gulf of Aden, a Defense official told CNN on Wednesday.

The two ships were just a few hundred yards apart on July 25 when Iranian crew members pointed what are believed to be on-deck machine guns at the warship and the U.S. military helicopter that had just landed on that coalition ship's deck, the Defense official said.

However, the coalition warship and helicopter crew quickly noticed there was a cameraman standing right behind one of the Iranian gunners.

"Were they just trying to get cool pictures pointing at us? Were they making a propaganda film? Was some guy taking pictures to send to his girlfriend? We don't know," the Defense official said.

The entire incident lasted about a minute with no shots being fired and no action taken by the coalition warship. The U.S. helicopter stuck to its plan as well and left the deck on schedule, the official said. The official declined to identify the nationality of the coalition warship but said the Iranian warship was a regular Iranian Navy Vosper-class frigate.

In a statement released early Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Navy characterized the interaction as "unsafe and unprofessional."

The U.S. Navy took photos of the incident but has not publicly released them. The incident was observed by the USS Farragut, which had launched the U.S. helicopter.

The official said it's been several weeks since there have been any serious encounters with Iranian military ships, although on two recent occasions, U.S. Navy ships did sound their horns to warn Iranian ships they were too close, and those ships moved to a farther distance.

The U.S. Navy said its forces are routinely approached by Iranian warships as they operate in the region, with the majority of all interactions by the Iranians conducted "in a safe and professional manner."

Well US navy and CNN say it is news. Iranian sailors do not give a shiite. They just scare the kids and take pictures for their girls (according to US navy official explanation) and then go about sailing the oceans. It is not news for Iran. It is news for America.

CNN having mental masturbation does't mean you gotta suffer from premature ejaculation as well !

STFU. Go and complain to US navy. Every time an Iranian sailor as much takes a leak on the seas, the American admirals call up CNN and start complaining with tears in their eyes. Grow up.

Really, what was the Iranian navy's reaction when the U.S navy shot down an Iranian civilian plane in 1988?

Nothing.

LOL, that's so right!!! Everyone with a few dozen ships and a couple of hundred jets thinks they are a "regional power". We are tracking the same behavior from China, India, Iran, North Korea... its interesting. I think I'll be seeing smaller countries like Nigeria, Bogota and Columbia become the next "regional powers" right after they buy two more dozen naval vessels or advanced jet fighters. This is a funny trend.

While the real powers are mature enough to not indulge in this stupidity and keep things mature and without the childish drama!

Wow. I didn't even know about this incident till now. If anything it makes me a little more sympathetic towards Iran and Iranians even though I had a favorable opinion of them before as well.

US has done some serious shit in this region and the day America comes crashing down will be a great day of celebration and it is my sincere hope that it does happen and soon. US is but a degenerative, supra military nation who has used its military might to bully, murder and rape from far away Vietnam to Haiti.

Iran has suffered a lot as has Iraq because of one country's bloody barbarism. Shooting down a plane full of innocent passengers is one of the biggest evils a superpower can use on anybody. No wonder Iranians don't like Americans.
We Pakistanis don't either.

It was actually the Americans who armed jihadi groups in Afghanistan just to see a Soviet defeat. Now they are moaning about terrorism. Create terrorists to destroy your rivals for America is justified but when those terrorists attack you they are your enemies.

I suspect though or believe America will in the future be even worse than a gutter.

Funny from a country that collaborated with the U.S. to armed the Jihadi groups as well as the Taliban in the 90s and now has turned about to bite Pakistan in the butt. How many Pakistanis have been shed by the same groups eh? Same groups you used against India as well to turn against you.

That's a stupid question.

Nothing, because we had been exhausted after an 8 year war, our resources depleted and we didn't have means to effectively confront U.S. And we are not ashamed of it, because we couldn't produce anything to confront U.S in Persian gulf (and we actually did confront them with anything we had in our power), but now we will make sure their entire fleet in the area will be destroyed, along with countries that are hosting them (if they allow U.S attack from their bases). ;)

Well no on has any doubts how some savages are hiding behind the name of 'civilized world' and protectors of humans.

Here's the true face of U.S in an article:

Iran Air Flight 655 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And not only they didn't punish those responsible, they actually gave a medal to William C. Rogers, captain of USS Vincennes that shot down Iran's airliner, for his "exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as commanding officer". Yep, that's the civilized U.S.

How about the continents hosting those countries, and the planets hosting those continents? Are you gonna destroy them too?
You guys are just drowned in the ocean of delusions, toes to nose.
Shouldn't I use the word but I believe that's somehow necessary, pathetic.
