He said that before the Islamic Revolution, Iranian aviation technicians had been capable of repairing three types of planes with related engines as well as one or two helicopters but now the wide-bodied passenger planes were completely and regularly overhauled.

He added that furthermore, more than 20 types of engines of different kinds, more than 80 planes and eight helicopters were repaired.

The official went on to say that joint production of the 52-seat passenger planes, different kinds of unmanned planes, pilot training jets, assault helicopters, jet boats, and related parts are on agenda.

The Following is abouts about a award given to two researchers who designed and iranian cobra avionics and targeting system

"President Khatami went on to praise the intelligence of Iran’s youth. 70% of Iranians are under 35 years of age, which makes them a sensitive and significant section of society. The thriving presence of youth in cultural, scientific, artistic and sporting activities, and their achievements in these fields, is a testimony to the capabilities of this young generation. We must understand the characteristics of our youth and while they maintain their identity, they should be guided towards fulfilling their desires and interacting with the world, for this will promise them a brighter future. This guidance can come from the continuous contact of our youth with our scholars and intellectuals, which will be to the benefit of all. Our scholars will benefit from the vigor and enthusiasm of our youth, and our youth will gain invaluable experiences from our scholars.

President Khatami concluded his remarks by saying: its gives me great honor to present these awards to the prides of Iran.

Two of the most significant researchers being awarded were engineers Mohommadreza Karimian (representative of HESA) and Masoud Bahmanpour (from Iran’s Electronics Industry), who were jointly awarded second place in the field of Applicable Research for their design and construction of the cobra attack helicopter weapon control system and its avionic modification (multifunctional display) screen. The award winners were assisted by 15 colleagues and Isfahan’s University of Technology and the Electronic Component Industry. The constructed helicopter control system, which consists of sophisticated optical, mechanical, electronic and controlling complexes, allows target locking with remarkable precision and duration for helicopters that are constantly under vibration and experience sudden movements. This project signifies incredible advancement in optic and electronic technology and military self-sufficiency. In the multifunction display system new sensors and crystal screens replaced electromechanical systems and old helicopter instruments. This innovation increases flight safety while reducing the pilot’s work pressure and can be used in many other places, such as upgrading the capabilities of other military systems

Iranian made FLIR copy of AH-1Z FLIR:

Nice Job. Its Not easy to "Reverse Engineer" American Technology and Especially the Likes of Cobra.

Here's my contribution to this great bird with an amazing colour scheme. Probably the only high resolution image of the Iranian AH-1J Sea Cobra. Exclusive rare shot!

Can we keep this sort of nonsense off the forum please.

Disagreements with a nation's foreign policies should not be cause for calling for the 'destruction' of the entire nation.

Advocate in favor of policy changes, not destroying entire nations.

I hate to spoil the smiles here... Let me give you the details...

Iran altered some cobra's to have a new canopy... It became heavier and the plans were dropped. Iran did no reproduce the entire chopper. However they have enough machines to make most parts so they keep them in good condition. That was thanks to the Shah era... Same goes fro F5, F4 and F14. But upgrading is not the issue... There is only reproduction of major spares...

The changes are hardly improvements... Putting hawk in F14 or adding a tail on F5...

A great job done by the Iranians, but i would like to ask does this one behaves like a real Cobra and what are its specifications, because real Cobra is hell of a chopper.

Please tell me how this is scaring the great s@tan?. We created the Cobra and just because Iran can reverse engineer it, somehow...the original developers should be scared?.

Are you saying the Iranians managed to turn a reversed US product into a super god mode machine? :)

If you really want to scare the great s@tan, please roll out the mighty Dhruv. :agree:

Looks like a cobra - but what about the power plant, avionics etc.???? A glass display does not a chopper make!!
