Iran Bahais begin spying trials

Seven members of the Bahai faith have been put on trial in Iran. The defendants face charges of spying for foreigners, cooperating with Israel and "corruption on Earth", a charged which carries the death sentence.

The Bahai religion is banned by the Islamic revolutionary leadership of Iran which considers it heretical.

The group have been held since their arrest in 2008. The US government has condemned the trial, expressing concern about Iran's treatment of Bahais.

"The United States strongly condemns the Iranian government's decision to commence the espionage trial against seven leaders of the Iranian Bahai community," said US State Department spokesman PJ Crowley.

"We are deeply concerned about Iran's ongoing persecution of Bahais and treatment of other members of religious minorities who continue to be targeted solely on the basis of their beliefs," Mr Crowley added.

"All the activities of the outlawed Bahai's sect in Iran is being led by its global centre based in Israel," a statement from the trial, cited by state news agency ISNA said. "Based on the evidence and the defendants' confessions, they held meetings with ambassadors of different Western countries and discussed information and actions with them," it added.

The Bahai faith was founded in Iran in the 19th Century but it has long been banned in its country of origin.

The Bahais consider Bahaullah, born in 1817, to be the latest prophet sent by God. Followers of the Bahai faith have faced discrimination in Iran both before and after the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Bahai groups say some 30,000 members remain in Iran. Hundreds of followers have been jailed and executed since 1979, the Bahai International Community says.

Iran denies it has detained or executed people because of their faith.

The religion has a large temple in Haifa, northern Israel, a country which has very fraught relations with Iran.

^^ Yep, let's play the victim card here. Very convenient. Let the trials begin before we draw any foregone conclusions. These people have been found guilty of a grave crime in any country. Whether they happen to be Bahais is tough luck. They have a chance of proving their innocence. Not a coincidence by any chance that such hand-picked garbage is always posted by you.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: Right on Illuminatus! Thanks for the wisdom of Pandora. They have as much chance of a fair trial as you have of having an intelligent thought......

Before caring so much about the plight of a handful of your dear Bahai friends, how about acknowledging the genocide in Iraq? For me that's a catastrophe comparable to the Holocaust. An Iraqi Holocaust committed by the US to be precise. Boy oh boy, your conscience must be guilty as hell.

ok fine lets suppose Iran is doing all these killings just because of their faith. Even then its fine they will say Sorry later after they execute them just like USA did incase of Japan, Veitnam, Afghanistan & Iraq.

And now of course, this support of Bahais is completely anti-Iran policy, where is America sleeping in case of Isreal-Palestine conflict or Kashmir issue. if America, as per it claims is so concerned about humanity???

Why America always has to act as an agent of Human rights whenever Russia, China or Iran make an action.!!

They never know when it is not of their concern like Afia sidique there is also an egyptian girl who was stabbed 18 times in a German court by the person she accused as a racist and also that he harrased her, when her husband came to rescue the gaurd shot him instead and even after all this that Killer was not given any death sentence.

Not one bit. The USA did kill some Iraqi's that's true. Some US soldiers were killed also. But 90% or more of the Iraqi deaths were at the hands of other Iraqi's, Iranians or al Qaeda jihadis from all over the Arab lands. The fact is Muslim on Muslim violence is eating up the former Caliphate. We are only guilty that we couldn't stop Muslims from killing other Muslims. We have stayed to try and lost thousands more of our soldiers in the process. At the end of the day, Iraqi Muslims are the ones with most of the blood of their own countrymen on their own hands.

Dear Bahai Friend,

Allahu Abha

Is it fair that the two members of the currently fairly elected
National Assembly of Pakistan have been suspended by the Universal
House of Justice? These were the members who received maximum number
of votes from the delegates. The other seven members are retained.

Not only this but even the office bearers of the NSA has been
removed and instead other appointed in their place. This clearly
indicates that the so called infallible UHJ has not done justice. In
fact they have humiliated and insulted the members of the NSA, the
delegates and the Bahais who have elected these delegates.

With this interference of the House, the sanctity of Bahai
elections are lost and it is a pointer that the House of Justice is
interested in some members to work as Secretary and the Treasurer.

Coincidentally the suspended members are Pakistani it looks that
the Universal House of Justice wants only Persian members to serve on
the NSA.

In this episode the axis of evil are Prof. Mehrdad, Mr. Farsheed
and Mr. Shamsheer. These three are the beneficiaries of this
dissolution. Mr. Mehrdad did not get a single vote for the
secretaryship and Mr. Farsheed the master manipulator while giving
treasurer report was hiding some important facts and he spended beyond
the budget. Mr. Shamsheer is expert in destroying the peace and
calmness of Bahai families by interfering in their internal affairs.
Constructive suggestions by sincere Bahais are considered as
criticism.

This is a very serious problem which needs to be known by every
Bahai of Pakistan. Ignoring this matter will only increase the courage
of this axis of evil. Protection of Bahai institutions and the
community at large should be the concern of each and every Bahai.

With loving Bahai greetings

Please forward it to different friends

“Let us recall His explicit and often-repeated assurances that
every Assembly elected in that rarefied atmosphere of selflessness and
detachment is, in truth, appointed of God, that its verdict is truly
inspired, that one and all should submit to its decision unreservedly
and with cheerfulness.”
