TEHRAN Feb 15 (Reuters) - Iran has stopped oil exports to six European states in retaliation for European Union sanctions imposed on the Islamic state's key export, its English-language Press TV reported on Wednesday.

"Iran cuts its oil exports to six European countries," Press TV reported.

Press TV said Iran has stopped exporting oil to Netherlands, Greece, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Brent crude oil prices were up $1 a barrel to $118.35 shortly after the announcement.

The EU's 27 member states have decided to stop importing crude from Iran from July 1 over its disputed nuclear programme, which the West says is aimed at building bombs. Iran denies this.

Iran's oil minister said on February 4 that the Islamic state would certainly cut its oil exports to "some" European countries. (Writing by Parisa Hafezi; editing by Jason Neely)

well they have other options.....but one thing is very clear..."IRAN has balls"
Yup...true....but still it will affect western economies as prices of crude oil will definitely increase.

how exactly its gonna help Iran ?? its just making more enemies in international arena. by doing this - they already threw their ace card !!
but yeah - Iran has balls. this is something to be appreciated.

Funny how they didnt cut to France, Britain and Germany. Seeing as they were the ones for sanctioning Iran.

I'm not sure if this news is true or not because it should be passed in the parliament first.
Ow poor boy, educate yourself,Iran doesn't sell any oils to Germany or UK.
And read the news again, Iran cut the oil exports to Netherlands, Greece, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Reuters) - Iran's Oil Ministry denied state media reports on the Islamic state stopping its crude exports to six European countries on Wednesday.

"We deny this report ... If such a decision is made, it will be announced by Iran's Supreme National Security Council," a spokesman for the ministry told Reuters.

Iran's English language Press TV had earlier said Tehran has stopped exporting oil to France, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Netherlands and Spain.

$118 a barrel now! If there is a hint of war, it will jump to $140, and an actual war will shoot past $160. All economies are going to be tanked, with Japan first the rest follow. Ultimately, the people will suffer the most, not these come and go politicians.

I heard on the state TV that Iran hasn't stopped oil exports to those 6 EU countries yet, but the Iranian foreign ministry has summoned their ambassadors in Iran to officially let them know that Iran is about to cut the oil exports to them soon.
