As i read between Russian sources, Iran has some plans to feed it's deserts with fresh water

I might be wrong my Polish friend. I read multiple sources on the web. I share my information over that issue
once i read a Russian article saying that Iran will build a desalination plant in that root. Currently UAE is doing the same in the gulf although according to that Russian article Iran wants to use nuclear one will be able to create a large stream of fresh water. The article mentioned that there will be many of those reactors and That's why Iran seeks Russian technological aid and Chinese investment. Probably China will pay the required dollars in exchange of Iranian sanctioned dollars For investment of the project.
That water cannot be used for civilian affairs but in fact it will be a fresh water my European friend.
In addition that's a hard project needs giant water transfer pumps. I'm interested in civil projects and i will follow it's progress.

Current condition of Iran's water resources are alarming but I don't think Iran will face any civil war or major crisis as the result of this drought. As you know Iran is connected to the Caspian sea from the north and Persian Gulf from the south and in worst case scenario they can build desalination plants along the coastlines of the Caspian sea and Persian Gulf. Actually this is the formula that has been used by the Saudis and almost half of their water need is produced through the desalination plants.

Another good news for Iran is that they have access to the nuclear energy and can use it to build nuclear desalination plants which is more cost effective compared to fossil fuel powered plants and can produce huge amount of water.

thats right, This is a solution for the time most sources are dried and iran looks like arab states, but the problem is ability to manage.
iranian regime and government are too corrupted to take care of it, right now solving the issue is much more easier than that time but as we can see they are not able to do that. their economy situation is terrible, high rate of jobless, high rate of poverty and their regime doesnt care a bit to the people and these problems. its not wise to think in much worse and critical situation they suddenly change themselves. actually the current problem is the result of their Mismanagement for near 4 decades.

unfortunately I call it most critical danger for iran and if they dont do any serious move, maybe it will lead to a civil war in next decades and people will fight for remaining water sources, Massive migration, ...
it will be a mess..

By that project, Iran's central deserts will be revived like a small scale and artificial version of Nile river.
That was why Iran's government insisted on nuclear capabilities despite the sanctions. I hope they will continue that project.

Iran cannot become a desert country when we are mostly mountains.

But something has to be done to save Urmia. Biggest problem has been irresponsible farming techniques and overuse. I think we do need desalination plants to reduce the strain in other sources of water.

However, another problem is that Iran has been a victim of global warming with rainfall levels falling. We can reduce pollution levels domestically but I fear that may not be enough.

Uneconomic?! That's Unbelievable mate!!!
It will connect the gulf to Caspian sea. After Creating that waterway for shipping affairs, Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakistan and also China will be eager to send their small commercial vessels to that waterway. Iran will make money and it's neighbors will benefit from it. Iran's central deserts will be revived and those salt deserts will go under water. Most important one, the salts which spread in the air by the wind causing intense amount of desertification process in the surrounding areas will be stopped. So it can provide suitable lands for agriculture that results more income for the original people and increasing of Iran's overall population, stops migrations from the countryside to cities etc etc etc.
pardon me for saying this but only an stupid would say that it is not an economic project.

You have to consider the enormous capital, economic and environmental effects a 1,400 km long canal can do to a country. That canal has to go through mountains you know!

Through the mountains?! That will be too hard bro. Anyway it is a great project. I hope Iranian government is going to operate it and finally we can see a connection between north and the gulf. Believe me it's an amazing civilian project. I was sad when i heard it's abandoned. :

Russia is one of the great potential welcomer of that project. Russia will find a waterway to Inida. That's geopolitically important to Russians.
