Iranian government's main statistics agency has released updated demographic data for the country, saying the population grew by around 4.7 percent since the last census was carried three years ago to top 83.75 million in September 2019.

A report published on Wednesday by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) showed that the Iranian population grew at a stable pace of one million people per year since 2016 when Iran's population was nearly 80 million.

Excerpts of the report covered by the IRIB News showed that an urbanization trend seen in Iran over the past decades was still a major case in the past three years as almost no increase was reported in the rural population in the country over the period.

It showed that rural population in Iran in the summer of 2019 was the same as three years ago, around 21 million people and around a quarter of the total population.

That comes as around half of Iran used to live in villages in 1979 when the Islamic Revolution took place in the country.

The report by the SCI said median household spending for rural families in Iran in the year ending in March 2019 was 214 million rials (nearly $1,900) while average income stood at 233 million rials (above $2,000).

It said urban households had spent 393 million rials (around $3,500) on average over the period, which spans over a full Iranian calendar year, while their median income stood at 435 million rials (more than $3,800).

The SCI is a subsidiary of the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran, a government department directly controlled by the Iranian president. Reports and surveys by the SCI, including those monitoring economic indicators in Iran, are regarded as the most reliable for domestic and international agencies.

The statistics agency published its latest report on population growth in Iran to mark the Day of Statistics in the country. Nationwide censuses are conducted by the SCI every 10 years.

100-150 million population is what we need.

100-150 million population is what we need.

Wrong.

130-150 is what Iran ideally would need. But Iran is no way near that....thanks to crippling birth rates and massive fall in marriage rates in Iran.

Iran's aging crisis is worst than Russia, France, or even Germany. This seems sensationalist right? Now, you can actually do the numbers yourself (if you know how to work with demographic data).

Here's a trick: Subtract 1980's age-cohort from Iranian population, and measure 1990's and onwards age-cohorts of Iran, Russia, Germany, and France.

Guess which country comes at the bottom? ;) Its Iran....

That's why poor Ayatullahs of Iran are so, so concern about population demise. Iranians need to take birth rate as a national cause, and start having families with 2-3 kids on average. Only this can save Iran from the coming catastrophe...(Unless you open immigration to millions of people. I doubt that would happen)

Iranian economy is becoming 'aging' before it could become developed (Like it happened in Russia, France, Germany, Japan etc). Image if an ultra-rich, advanced nation like Japan is struggling with aging and falling birth rates, what would happen to Iran when the time comes?

Turkey is kind of in the same boat as well, although their base level development is higher than Iran so they are a bit better equipped (but still worse off than Russia even!).

That's why Turkish leadership and Erdogan calls for 3 births per woman again and again. He knows his country's future depends on it

Note: I am studying demographics (Stats) for my Masters :D So I know these facts and calculations off of my head.

What's the source of your information? Iran's birthrate is higher than Turkey, Russia, France and Germany according to World Bank. And Iran's median age is lower than all of those countries too.

You need to rewrite your thesis. LOL

You need to rewrite your thesis. LOL

LOL idiot, I know you are under-educated and aren't pursuing a masters from one of the world's best institutes, but atleast have enough basic comprehension skills?

You just Google stuff and think you know what you are talking about here. Did you even read my central argument of age-cohort elimination comparison?

From my last post:

Here's a trick: Subtract 1980's age-cohort from Iranian population, and measure 1990's and onwards age-cohorts of Iran, Russia, Germany, and France.

Oh wait, you probably dont even know what the f*ck it means  You Google stats and see Iran's birth rate being a bit higher than Russia, and you think my thesis (which is being monitored by Harvard trained demographers) is wrong?

Btw my thesis is not on Iran per say...but anyways.

Google UN projections 2019. Extend those projections to 2050 and check the category of "population older than 65 as % "....turns out Iran is projected to have MORE people older than 65 (as a percentage) than Russia or France. How come? Oh yeah...this is what we called age-cohort elimination process. Even with "less median age" today....once the fertile cohort (1980's one for Iran) dies off, Iran will become older than Russia. Its basic demography which you have no idea about (bar Google random figures without understanding them).

Anyways, stop quoting me with your childish theories. There is a reason Iranian leadership is SO worried. Iran will face severe troubles in future due to the population bust it is facing. What I wrote in my last post stands true and Iranians should pay heed to that.

Your thesis is a worthless joke. So are you. Iranians don't care about what an online joker like you says. Now go sell your falafel in the streets of London. That's probably the real institution where your thesis is being done. LOL

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

As expected, the pu$$y cat got intimidated and ran with her tail in the arsehole. You did not even understood my point about age-cohorts bc the village idiot like you didn't even know BASIC thing about demographic studies

Good. Now keep moving...

I know its counter productive but population isn't a zero sum game. In other words, there is a certain ratio of population that is optimal for peak economic growth. Population above that is disastrous, but also...population below that range is also disastrous.

Sub Saharan Africa is piss poor and exploding with population growth. That's the region where they need to decrease their birth rates....FAST!

HOWEVER, Iran or Turkey needs to maintain a certain population growth rate to become developed countries. Any population decline below that range, their economic base will shrink. So actually it is beneficial for Iran to have 130ish million people by 2050-60 instead of having 100ish million.

Google scholar named Lyman Stone. He has written in detail about relationship of population growth and economic development

Wrong ,wrong ,wrong.
First make schools free (really not just in name)as it stated in law . then provide job for every one . then provide our food domestically ,then provide enough water for every one then talk about rise in population.
Why we need more population and what age crisis . if you fear we loose work force just don't retire people at the age of 40-45 year old.

As I said fix retirement age.

Lol, I put that flag during Operation Protective Edge to protest Israeli barbarism against Palestinians.

This flag shows the state of Israel as 'Nazi state' due to their actions.

When you have no counter-arguments to fact-based hard analysis, start criticizing my flag.....
