Iran offers to take over security of Pakistan border

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that since Pakistan is not capable enough of securing [its] common borders with Iran, it should entrust this arduous task to Iran,” said Evaz Heidarpour who sits on the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis, Press TV reported on Saturday.

He said the volatile situation along the Iran-Pakistan common border could open a Pandora’s box, and added Tehran has proposed that Islamabad hand over to Iran the full responsibility of ensuring security along the border, but “Pakistan has not yet given a response in that regard.”

Iran later summoned Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran Noor Mohammad Jadmani in connection with the announced killing.

On October 25, 2013, the terrorist group killed 14 Iranian border guards and wounded six others in a border region near the city of Saravan in Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province.

Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement in February 2013, under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering the activities that pose a threat to the national security of either country.

Iran has repeatedly called on Pakistan to abide by the terms of the agreement.

The Iranian MP also denounced the abduction of the five Iranian border guards by the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group as an “inhumane act,” stressing that all Iranian security bodies have been seriously following up the case and contacting Pakistani officials as well as international organizations ever since the kidnapping took place last month.

Jaish-ul-Adl terrorists kidnapped five Iranian border guards in Jakigour region in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-and-Baluchestan on February 6 and took them to the Pakistani territory. The terrorists announced on March 23 that they had killed one of the hostages.

Why not?? If Pakistan can allow American/NATO drones to kill its own people and build military bases on its soil then why not allow Iran to police its borders which it itself cannot guard or has failed to guard for various reasons.

Zanjan, March 29, IRNA – An Iranian lawmaker said here on Saturday that the international bodies should take action to release the kidnapped Iranian border guards in Pakistan.

Talking to IRNA, member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis Mohammad Esmaili reiterated that great efforts have been made by both Foreign Ministry and Majlis to secure safe and sound release of the kidnapped border guards.

Although the intensive negotiations were held between the Iranian and Pakistani officials, such efforts have so far failed.

The Pakistani government should take necessary measures to tackle Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group to release the kidnapped Iranian border guards, the MP added.

Why not?? If Pakistan can allow American/NATO drones to kill its own people and build military bases on its soil then why not allow Iran to police its borders which it itself cannot guard or has failed to guard for various reasons.

What the Iranians are suggesting is that Pak should lay off border control since as per them :

and Iran looks after both sides of the border.

And how does Iran propose to secure both the borders? Aren't they already deployed to guard their own border? Do they now want to set up BOPs on the Pakistani side too?

The logic is very simple , are you being naive ?

Its an attempt to shake GOP from its complacency and inability to do what its supposed to do i.e. look after its side of the border and control those who live & operate from the Pak side of the IB.

..and if Pak as alleged by them and as shown by the kidnapping is incapable of doing this, the Iranians are willing do handle both sides of the Pak Iran border.
