Iran and India relation Banking oil gas culture economy

What is this?iran and india love thread or what?

1000 years history and all this stuff :P may be someone don't know that the indus is now in Pakistan, not india :D

anyway best of luck

who care about one vote which if even India did not vote or even vote against it would passed .

the mount of damaged Pakistan done to Iran in behind your understanding and one useless vote which it would NOT count .
Pakistan could of vote as well but help us after would .

India vote in favour of U.S and got what it wanted from U.S but after would India paid us helped us in our economy

That vote was strictly Quid pro Quo for USA helping India get NSG's exemption. Vote against Iran ,along with buying at least 5 reactors of 1GW power output from GE + Defence deals for US weapon manufacturers, was a condition for that.

That resolution would have passed anyway, with or without India's vote.

NO
it will be NO problem . as i explain in my previous post . we just going to extend it and go around it .
as i said did both party are committed to overcome this problem in our region it does NOT matter how much it cost .

their policy is to hold region hostage from growth and development and NOT allow the bypass to take place . where they do it with terrorism or cheap act like this one .

That would not be required.

Pipelines and undersea cables could pass through EEZ of another country. They must not pass through territorial water or contiguous zone ( 12 nm and 24 nm) of another country.

Though this extension would become problematic when Indian and Oman's claim for extension is accepted as Pakistani claim has to be rolled back.

That said, it is prudent to bypass EEZ of Pakistan as India would not be able to stop Pakistani boats in Pakistan's EEZ which would lead to weekly incidents of dynamite being dropped on pipeline by fishermen using explosives.

Tehran - Iran has reportedly proposed a free trade agreement with India to boost bilateral trade and investment.
The matter has been raised during the recent visit of India's Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher to Tehran, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported. He was here for the first meeting of the joint working group of the two countries.'Iran has proposed to negotiate a preferential trading agreement with us. I told them that India will consider this proposal very positively and will soon respond after taking the appropriate mandate from the government,' Kher has been quoted as saying by PTI.

He said the pact would be beneficial for India as through Iran, it can get market access to some parts of Europe and Africa.

Kher further indicated that lifting of trade sanctions would help Iran to increase oil imports to India.

India had cut its imports from over 18 million tons five years back to 11 million tonnes in 2013-14. India is one of the largest importers of crude oil from Iran, PTI added.

India and Iran agreed to increase cooperation in sectors including petroleum, petrochemicals, raw materials like gold, stones and rare earth metals, Kher said.

'Iran also has high ambition to develop its rail infra, power infra, irrigation facilities and India has strength in engineering and projects exports,' Kher said, adding that India could extend buyers credit line to Iran.

'We have also offered buyers credit for Chabahar port. First phase requirement will be $150 million. Iran wants to buy rail wagons to expand its rail network,' he said.

The Indian official further said Iran and India have discussed the expansion of the International North-South Corridor transit route, which is a shorter route for India to access Russian and eastern European markets.

'This route will drastically reduce transactions cost for India. To facilitate this route, India has already done a study on this. There is a need to popularize it. In June, we will organize a conference on this and will invite all the stakeholders.

'We will invite all the countries, private sector representatives from shipping and rail industry besides government officials,' he said.

Why not Qatar and KSA do that by supplying refined oil products through pipelines and refined gas from Qatar.

This is just the beginning of the commercial and strategic opportunities. Not only India but entire Asia will rush towards Iran. Though it was unfair to leave Iran isolated for all this time thanks to that loser MMS and Italian G, we better make it up. The best way to start would be to increase the pace of work for the North-South Economic Corridor between India-Iran-Russia.

That would be a really powerful transport alternative to anything in that region.

Tehran, Feb 9, IRNA – Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval will arrive in Tehran on an invitation extended by Secretary of Supreme National Security Adviser Ali Shamkhani tomorrow
Doval will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday morning and in addition to a meeting with Ali Shamkhani, he will have meetings with the other Iranian political and security officials.

Doval and Shamkhani are expected to seek ways for further expansion of bilateral relations, survey the latest political and security developments in the region and at the international scene and exchange views on other issues of mutual interest.

Shamkhani to host Indian National Security Adviser

This news will cause quite some unrest to our hosts here.

But on a serious note, crucial regional cooperation in keeping the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea safe is very important. With all hell breaking loose in Yemen, it is possible to see a rise in Somali piracy since all militaries are too focused on getting their people out of Yemen.

This is the time when Iranian Navy should increase its presence in the region and collaborate with our navy to deal with hostile elements. GCC navies anyway won't be coming so it won't matter.

Iran expresses readiness to boost all-out ties with India

By Umid Niayesh - Trend:

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has expressed readiness to boost all-out ties with India.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi on July 9 on the sidelines of the BRICS and SCO summits in Ufa, Russia.

Rouhani said that the Islamic Republic sees no obstacle for the development of economic and cultural relations with India, the official website of the Iranian president said.

Iran is ready to cooperate with India in the sectors of oil and gas as well as development of Iran’s southeastern Chabahar port and facilitating the cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries especially in the fields of science and technology, Rouhani said.

The Iranian president also underlined the important role of the two countries in fight against terrorism, saying Iran-India cooperation should not be limited to trade and economic fields.

The two countries’ cooperation is necessary in order to eradicate terrorism in the region, Rouhani said.

Iran and India have recently signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the strategic port of Chabahar . The port is located in Sistan and Balochistan Province on the Sea of Oman, near Iran 's border with Pakistan and is of great strategic use to India , which will get a sea-land access route to Afghanistan bypassing Pakistan

India intends to lease two berths at Chabahar for 10 years.

Iran has also proposed a free-trade agreement with India. Rupee-denominated trade with Iran, started in 2012 because of complications arising from international sanctions against Iran, has almost doubled Indian exports to Tehran in the past two years to $4 billion.

India was the 4th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, according to the Iran Customs Administration.

Iran exported $2.44 billion of non-oil goods to India and imported $3.72 billion of non-oil goods from the country.

Indian PM Hails Iran's Role in Regional Security, Anti-Terror Campaign

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the role Iran plays in the fight against terrorism, and urged for cooperation between the two countries to eradicate the evil phenomenon.

Speaking in a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the Russian city of Ufa, Modi highlighted the role of Iran in identifying and eradicating the roots of terrorism in the Middle East and in establishing peace and security.

"We should not let terrorism cast any doubts on Islam and Muslims in the world,
" Modi further said in the meeting.

He also noted that Iran and India, along with other like-minded countries, should cooperate with each other based on Iran's proposal in the UN (WAVE) in defense of humanity and a world without violence.

Modi made the remarks in reference to Rouhani’s ‘World Against Violence and Extremism’ (WAVE) proposal, which was approved by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2013.

Rouhani, for his part, described as "significant" and "sensitive" the roles Iran and India play in securing stability in the region and fighting terrorism.

"Cooperation between the two countries is very essential not only in trade and economic fields, but also in eradication of terrorism in the region," he added.

President Rouhani arrived in Ufa on Wednesday night to attend BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summits and to hold meetings with his counterparts.

India to finance Iran rail tracks exports

Officials in Tehran announced on Saturday that India will finance exporting about 150,000 tons of standard rail tracks to Iran.

Saeid Mohammadzadeh, the deputy director for technical and infrastructure affairs of Iran Railways (IRIR), told the local media that India has created a special mechanism to support exports of rail tracks to Iran through the “full finance” scheme.

Mohammadzadeh added that Iran will not pay anything for the imports of the tracks.

Last year, India signed a contract worth $233 million with Iran for exports of rail tracks by companies including Steel Authority of India (SAIL).

Based on the original contract, the Indian companies would provide Iran with enough standard rail tracks to set up a network project spanning over 15,000 kilometers.

It is still not clear if the finance mechanism that Mohammadzadeh has mentioned involves the deal with the SAIL-led group.

Officials in Tehran have already emphasized that Iran wants to spend up to $8 billion over the next six years to revamp and expand its railway network.

To the same effect, they have emphasized that the country will need about 3 million tons of steel rails to connect all major cities, industrial centers and also ports for faster evacuation of goods.

Analysts are already speculating that the Indian government may reimburse steel exports to Iran through Iran’s assets that have been frozen in New Delhi banks as the result of the US-led sanctions against the country.

Indian media had previously reported that Indian exporters are banking on the United Commercial Bank or the UCO Bank to settle rupee payments with Iran.

Reports last April said UCO Bank began handling payments for India-Iran trade in 2012, under which domestic oil refiners buy oil from Iran but make payments into an ‘Iran Account’ with UCO’s Mumbai branch. When Iranians import goods from India, the bank pays the Indian exporters out of this account.

@yavar You pathetic fcuk sl*t....i have told you before not to drag Pakistan in here
Your country has a stellar record of exporting terror in Syria being involved in the murder of 200,000 civilians
So don't talk about Pakistan exporting terror particularly on a Pakistani forum
If you have an ounce of self respect you wouldn't crawl in here and throw mud at Pakistan while using a Pakistani forum....but i guess self respect eludes your kind

Ruling out any ’emergency or urgency’ in getting back USD 6.5 billion oil import dues from India, Iran on Wednesday proposed that a part of this corpus can be invested in Indian projects there — assuaging concerns that an immediate payment outgo might hit India’s forex reserves.

Hopeful that a “settlement” can be reached on how to clear these dues, Iran has also proposed delegation-level visits and discussions to iron out the issues in this regard.

The assurance by Iranian Ambassador to India, Gholamreza Ansari, assumes significance as there were concerns that India might have to make immediate payments to clear these dues after lifting of the Western sanctions on Iran. The dues have been pending largely because of curbs on the banking and payment channels connecting Iran.

As per the estimates, more than half of the crude oil bill has remained uncleared in the past two years and has grown to more than USD 6.5 billion (over Rs 41,000 crore).

“We are neither in emergency or urgent situation. It depends on discussions between the two sides. We should exchange delegations between the two countries and discuss arrangements which they want to do business with each other,” Ansari told PTI in an interview here.

“Anyway, it will take a long time between Iran and India (to settle the dues) because we are good partners and may be part of this money can go to different projects, different purposes,” he said.

However, the envoy did not give the exact figure of the payments to be made by India and only said it was a “substantial” amount.

“In future…we will have some sort of settlement on what we want to do with the dues… We should find mechanism to settle it. How we want to use it, sell it or transfer it. It can be discussed between the two sides,” the envoy further said, indicating that there were many investment opportunities in Iran and part of the dues could be used there.

India has maintained a trade relation with Iran despite the sanctions, especially in terms of crude oil imports.

As per the industry estimates, India has been Iran’s second biggest oil customer after China.

Ansari’s remarks have come amid concerns in India that after an agreement between Iran and western countries on Tehran’s contentious nuclear program resulting in lifting of sanctions, it would be required to make an immediate payment in US dollars, thereby hitting the country’s forex reserve severely.

Till about 6-7 years ago, Iran accounted for 15-17 per cent of the total Indian oil imports and was the second biggest supplier to India.

However, Iran’s share in the Indian oil imports has now more than halved from that level and it was seventh largest supplier in 2014.

Still, India is estimated to have imported 42 per cent more Iranian oil in 2014 after sanctions began to ease. The imports had dipped sharply in 2013 as a clampdown on insurers hit the shipments in a big way. Iranian oil has been imported by private as well as public sector refiners in India

‘Indebted’ India presses Iran for gas field
a82a33b3-9e26-4df3-8054-83561f7ebbb2.jpg

India has discussed ways of repaying $6.5 billion in overdue debt to Iran and development of a major gas field in the Persian Gulf, New Delhi-based media say.

A delegation visited Tehran last week to expedite the repayment and also present India’s fresh bid for the development of Farzad-B gas field, the Financial Express reported.

Farzad-B is part of the Farsi block in the Persian Gulf which Iran awarded to India’s ONGC Videsh (OVL) in 2002 but cancelled the contract after the state-run Indian consortium dragged its feet on starting the development work.

The paper said new talks between Iranian officials and the Indian delegation representing economic and petroleum ministries and OVL were “amicable”.

The Reserve Bank of India has been reportedly approached for a feasible route for crude oil payments to Iran but “nothing concrete has happened as of now”, it said.

“We should be able to come up with some clarity in the next 10 days,” it quoted an official who visited Tehran as saying.

According to the paper, India’s state-owned UCO Bank have already tied up with Iran’s Parsian, Pasargad, Saman and EN Banks for the settlement of dues.

Iran's Government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said in May India’s debt to the Islamic Republic amounted to $8.8 billion.

The money has piled up as India kept purchasing oil -- though at drastically slashed levels -- from Iran under a nuclear agreement which allows the Islamic Republic to sell around one million barrels per day of crude.

OVL Managing Director N K Verma also held “positive” talks with officials of the National Iranian Oil Company about the development of the Farzad-B field, the Indian report said.

There was no immediate comment by Iranian officials on Saturday.

Last month’s breakthrough in nuclear talks with Iran has generated new interest among Indian officials and traders for business with the Islamic Republic.

New Delhi scaled back business with Iran under US pressures and most of its projects in the Islamic Republic were characterized by repeated delays.

Last month, Iran’s Ambassador to New Delhi Gholamreza Ansari said Tehran has offered India $8 billion worth of infrastructure projects, including a stake in developing the strategic port of Chabahar.

Ansari cited a “golden time” for India to seize on investment opportunities in Iran. He said the Indians were still the "first priority" to develop the Farzad field but "if they drag their feet, the market will not wait".

On Thursday, another Indian newspaper said the country’s officials would push for the revival of the $7-billion gas pipeline from Iran which has to cross Pakistan.

India dropped out of the massive project under US pressure but a recent opening in the business environment in Iran has prompted Indian leaders to make a fresh bid for the pipeline, the Economic Times reported, citing informed sources.

Tehran, Aug 9, IRNA - Iranian and Indian officials will meet next week to discuss plans to construct an aluminum smelter and a captive power plant in Iran in a project worth about $2.6 billion.

India pushes for $2.6b Iran smelter

National Aluminum Co Ltd (NALCO)’s idea to set up the 1-million-ton capacity facility is driven by power shortages in India given that electricity accounts for 40 percent of smelting costs.
Tapan Kumar Chand, NALCO’s new chairman and managing director, will meet Iran’s Ambassador to India Gholamreza Ansari in New Delhi next week to take things forward, the Tehran-based English newspaper Iran Daily reported.
Chand said his company would prefer a local partner who could supply cheap electricity to fire the smelter. For feedstock in the plant, NALCO will ship alumina from the Indian state of Odisha.
The company has been planning to build the smelter since 2014 but was dragging its feet because of sanctions on Iran.
Last month’s conclusion of nuclear talks has encouraged the Indian government and companies to push for stepped-up trade with the Islamic Republic.
India’s state-owned Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL) plans to import one million metric tons of iron ore from Gol Gohar Mining Company of Iran. The Mangalore-based company makes pellets from the imported ore and exports them to Iran.
KIOCL has already supplied 50,000 metric tons of high grade iron ore pellets to Iran and expects to sell 1-2 million tons more.
On Monday, Ambassador Ansari said Iran would welcome India’s participation in various ‘big ticket projects’ in diverse sectors.
Indian Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan plans to visit Tehran at the head of a delegation to win back development of a major gas field, which New Delhi lost by dawdling under US pressures.
India has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop Iran’s strategically-located Chabahar port but a commercial accord has to be inked yet in order to start the project.
