I mean obviously Samsung products are popular here, but they don't have nearly the fan base power that iPhones do..

And I'm not even a big iPhone fan

Don't know what the point of this type of news is. Chinese love American products? Chinese are richer so they can pay for the most expensive phone without taking out second mortgage? or Chinese simply have more choice of phones then Americans? Or all of above?

I wanted to troll Chinese here but then realised how crazy Indians are about Xiaomi phones where millions of units gets sold within seconds of online launch and we would be probably seeing such scenes here also if Xiaomi had major offline retail stores in India.

Well, I've seen it ill tell you that much it was during s3 launches in New York I bet it hasn't changed ever since.

If it was lines that was likely London not NYC.

As for launches...well Samsung I think has yearly NYC events that obviously attract the media/people.
