ISLAMABAD: Sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) confided in Pakistan Today that FIA’s immigration head Wajid Zia (JIT’s head), with the approval of Interior Ministry, has enlisted the name of Sharif family members on Exit Control List (ECL) on Friday.

Following the Panama Leaks case verdict of Supreme Court of Pakistan, names of ex PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar were put on ECL. Until the accountability court decides their fate within the given six months, no one can leave the country.

It is noted that on Friday, Supreme Court removed Nawaz Sharif from office in a unanimous verdict over corruption allegations.

The verdict, delivered by a five-member supreme court caps year of political controversy, unleashed by the Panama Papers leak, which documented the involvement of Sharif’s children in the purchase of high-end London property through offshore companies.

The SC bench also referred all material gathered in the investigation to the court of the national accountability bureau and recommended opening cases against the prime minister and his three children—Maryam, Hassan, Hussain—as well as Capt Safdar.

“He is no more eligible to be an honest member of the Parliament, and he ceases to be holding the office of prime minister,” the judge Ejaz Afzal Khan said in court.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been asked to de-notify the prime minister from his National Assembly seat to fulfil the technicalities of implementing the order. The Supreme Court said the ECP should de-seat the PM for not disclosing his role in the Dubai-based Capital FZE company in his nomination papers, saying that this meant he was not ‘honest’ and ‘truthful’.

Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, who had headed the apex court’s implementation bench following its April 20 order on the Panama Papers case, announced that the larger bench had unanimously deemed PM Sharif unfit for holding office and would also order an accountability court to open references against him and his family.

The judges ruled that he had been dishonest to the Parliament and courts, and could not be deemed fit for his office.

Main task of the Brigade is to provide Security and Protocol Duties to the incoming dignitaries. In addition brigade is responsible for the security of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. It presents guard of honor to distinguished guests of Pakistan. Three Military Bands of Pakistan Army are known for excellence; One belongs to Pakistan Military Academy (PMA Kakul), Second to Frontiers Constabulary KPK and the Third one belongs to this Brigade.

The 111 Brigade is the most well known Army brigade in Pakistani Social, Public, Religious, and Political Circles. Since its creation, the 111 Brigade has been frequently used to overtake and topple Civilian Governments. The brigade's first involvement in toppling a government was when Field Marshal Ayub Khan dismissed the government of Pakistani President Iskander Mirza.

On July 4, 1977, General Zia-ul-Haq conducted a coup d'état against the government of then-Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The loyalty of the 111 Brigade Commander is crucial to subsequent military regimes. For instance, Zia’s mistrust of Commander X Corps, Chishti led him to remove the Commander, Brigadier Mohammad Khan, considered close to Chishti and replaced him with Brigadier Rahat Latif without Chishti’s knowledge.

111 Brigade is also Responsible for Security of the Prime Minister’s and President’s House. The Brigade was also used by General Parvez Musharraf in thwarting the Sharif regime after Sharif tried to replace him with Ziauddin Butt. Lt. Generals Aziz and Mahmud reacted quickly after the government broadcast Musharraf’s retirement on television. Mahmud reportedly ordered the 111-Brigade Commander, Brigadier Salahuddin Satti, to Secure the Prime Minister’s House. The 111 Brigade completed the Coup after confining the Prime Minister and his aides to the PM House. Prime Minister Sharif was arrested and was later exiled to Saudi Arabia.

The Brigade's last Participation was in Operation Silence, in which the Heads of Government ordered Military Police, the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Rangers Punjab, and the 111 Brigade to Surround the Red Mosque (Lal Masjid) Complex. Clashes between Aziz and Ghazi's followers and Security Forces Quickly ensued, and the Terrorists opened fire at the Security Personnel. The 111 Brigade assisted the Army, Rangers and the Special Forces (SSG) in Completing the Operation and in Capturing High-Value Targets inside the Terrorist Complex. The Brigade's participation in the Red Mosque situation led to a Successful Special Military Operation. When the Lawyers' Movement was launched, the Pakistani media speculated that the Zardari government would launch a psychological operation against the movement. However, it was later decided by the Pakistani Military Leadership not to launch the operation.

In 2010, the 111 Brigade had Taken Over the Control of Islamabad Capital Territory, and provided the intense and Tight Security to the both Chinese Premier and Pakistan's Prime Minister. The Brigade was deployed by the order of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, and it had directly reported to Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. The Jang News later cited that ISI had learnt that unnamed neighboring country has planned to sabotage the Chinese Premier's state visit to Pakistan.

The Brigade Comprises 5 Infantry Battalions drawn from all the Regiments, including 2 Artillery Batteries, 1 Air Defense Battery, 1 Paratrooper Battalion, and 1 Armoured Squadron. The Brigade also includes 2 Special Services SSG Companies and a Section of ''Well Trained Snipers''.

Brigade is Operationally Responsible to be Corps Reserve for Kharian based Corps during War/National Crisis. Since the Brigade is Composed of Selected Talented Soldiers therefore, it often wins most of the peace time Sports and Training Events. The Brigade is winner of sports events of training year 2014 and 2015.

It may be mentioned here that Hussain and Hassan are currently abroad.

However, when contacted FIA’s immigration head, he neither confirmed nor denied the information.
