Jaishankar works for the US not India.

He was recruited by the US when he was India's Ambassador to the United States in 2013.

When Modi got elected in 2014, US asked Modi to make Jaishankar as the foreign minister.

So Modi fired the then Indian Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and replaced her with Jaishankar.

Jaishankar bypassed Sushma who was then the foreign minister and worked with Modi directly all his years as Foreign secretary.

Later Modi did not offer Sushma the ticket for 2019 elections to force her out and made Jaishankar as India's foreign minister.

Not really. The late Sushma Swaraj was the one who recommended Dr. Jaishankar be considered for the cabinet role in 2019 before she tragically passed away. Dr Jaishankar was an ambassador to both US and China and had the right knowledge to wield the position. Similar to what FS Harsh Vardhan Shringla is right now.

Removal of Sujata Singh was natural since her political affiliation was more closer to the erstwhile UPA government. It is common practise in the top circles here. Surprising how you don't know it - actually not at all surprising. ;)

While Jaishankar did work directly with the PMO, the objective was to delegate outreach to all senior ministers including the PM himself as our diplomacy was in doldrums then.. As the head of the government and a new face to the PMO back then, it was important to take help of an IFS senior to establish an outward reach by the PMO to all major countries of the world.
