PESHAWAR: The initial report of the Dera Ismail Khan jailbreak has been sent to Khyber Pkahtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

The report prepared by the advisor for prisons and Inspector General (IG) prisons states that police backup arrived over four hours late and intelligence agencies warned of the attack three days prior. According to the report, weapons of guards at the prison were old.

Earlier, Chief Minister Khattck had called the jailbreak a failure of intelligence agencies and directed concerned authorities to launch a probe into the incident.

As many as 243 prisoners escaped as militants carrying heavy weapons stormed Dera Ismail Khan’s Central Jail. The attack on the hundred-year-old detention facility was blamed on weak security arrangements where inmates belonging to various banned organizations were held.

Nine people including six policemen were killed and 14 others injured in the audacious attack while four prisoners were also killed by security forces.

Don't know how much inmates was ordinary ... But it is sure about 300 terrorist were kept in this jail .....

taliban left the politician who was charged under fake degree case....

This is quite unfortunate incident and yet another medal of utter failure on the chest of ISI, Army, Police, FIA, IB, MI, CID and all other law enforcing agencies.. How shameful is that police arrived only four hours after the attack? why was army not called immediately to supply back up with helicopters?? why police was having old weapons.. (Pak must stop exhibiting its muscle on IDEAS and IDEX etc as all seems to be fake)..

Intelligence reports were given 3 days earlier ... This is not failure of intelligence ... Completely failure of govt ........

after providing the intel ... agencies thought their job is done??

Thats like saying you are taking an exam for Physics and they fail you for a test in Accounting. 3 days time is 3 years time in intel reports. Have you read the report presented? It even chalked out the directions of attack. Usually these kind of reports work in hours but this has been a massive failure for the government of KP. It is not the job for the intel gatherers to go fight militants, they do paperwork and people trained to follow up do the rest.

Criminal harkat by Police. Arriving 4 hours later!

This means they purposely didn't go there to save their necks. They must have said kaun jaye larai karay...

with what weapons and training can they fight back?

the excuses from IG jail are pathetic. he should be held responsible.

but dont forget DI Khan is a garrison town, and we have a prior example of Bannu jail break, which happened in suspicious circumstances !

I agree but given the training and equipment of our police and govt security agencies, the result would have been same even if the police had come on time. Perhaps the only change would have been the number of causalities on our side.

A very interesting point made by Ejaz Haider last night. 'The govt. and state has become so pathetic that nobody wants to die for it'.

Yes ... And After it govt should put in motion to security agencies immediately ... If they needed to Army ... They must call & do arrangement ... They just increased 25 constables with useless weapon ..............

Good point indeed ........

you know you are a civilian;

If you fail to stop at a check post in time, and you are shot to death

you know you are a Taliban:

If you waive AK47 and rocket launchers, while going in to Garrison town ID Khan and going out into Waziristan in about a 25 double cabins and motor bikes for hours, shouting Islami slogans, and you are saluted on your way at checkposts.
