There are certain truths in this speech. Pakistani media is extremely deregulated or 'free media' meaning if a publication/channel/journalist are hired by a foreign country/company/individual to do certain types of favoured reporting, Pakistani govt. bodies can't do much, actually can't do anything. If a certain state favors a journalist and puts pressure than our pathetic ministries can't take a stand. Dawn, Tribune, etc.. have been working against the state and getting away with it for a longtime.
As the media's foreign and govt. funds are drying off there readership is being exposed. They have lost much of their credibility same with Tv media and anchors. None are trusted.
Compared to print media, social media has zero checks and balances plus deliberate bias. Print media still has an editorial board and structure where fake news and unauthentic news can't go through. Although Express Tribune has failed there as well.
If history is written of our times, the no.1 damage Pakistan suffered is through electronic media more than natural disasters. The worst mistake of Musharraf
Promoting negative news in form of breaking news and biased opinionmaking has demoralized the public. Hypertension and psychological illnesses have been reported due to watching their excessive coverage. PAkistani media was suppose to project Pakistan's opinion abroad instead it became a tool to polarize and devastate Pakistani public.
