When did you stop beating your wife?

Is wife beating an article of faith?

Domestic abuse is a challenge for every society and it is an utter disgust to paint it as a muslim monopoly.

Specially from someone from hyderabad India where child bride phenomenon is culturally protected let alone the religious aspect.

A bangladeshi fassadi opened the thread. The baniya leeched on it.

Any approach that claims equality while trying to preserve one group's superiority is self-contradictory by definition.

But surely in the Muslim majority countries such as Pakistan, Iran & Egypt; one would like to limit the accessibility of non-Muslims to the critical offices such as the President, chief of the Armed & Intelligence services.

Of course those countries have every right to be selective to those high offices if they wish, as long as they compromise on the equality for all citizens part of the equation. The question to ask here is whether a particular set of personal religious beliefs would enable such officers of the State do their jobs with more ability?

That’s an offensive comment. I don’t agree with him due to differences on ideology but I agree with the diagram displayed which sounds logical and fair. Just because we don’t get on with the person shouldn’t overshadow the rational ideas they carry.

His comment is more cynical than you think.

You are right Sir. However, realistically speaking, can't see an overwhelming majority Muslim country such as Pakistan electing non-Muslims for the sensitive posts even though the candidates were geniuses rivalling Einstein.

QED. Once Pakistan could have a foreign minister as accomplished as Zafarullah Khan, or a judge as AR Cornelius, or a pilot as Cecil Choudry, but not nowadays. How many future Abdus Salams have left for greener pastures already? But, now the social emphasis is more on a particular brand of piety than ability. I am fine with this national approach, as long as trying to portray such discrimination as some kind of divinely ordained equality is not attempted.

Why do you consider Zafarullah Khan as a minority? At the time he was foreign minister Qadiani's were not considered non Muslims in Pakistan.

That was silly. The question is a one that is used very frequently to illustrate impossible situations posed during discussions. It was embarrassing to read your excursion into the specifics of domestic abuse, its occurrence in Islam, the case of Hyderabad, and finally, the cheap insult.

Unfortunately, it seems that the air of exhausted omniscience that we see in your posts conceals an immature mind constantly seeking to make an effect through a carefully cultivated cleverness, with not much knowledge and not much information to serve as a foundation.

A)No Modern Muslim State levies such a tax anymore on non muslims.. however zakat, usher etc for muslims is still levied.

B)Religious tax on minorities was nothing compared to taxes like Zakat,Kharj,Usher etc levied on Muslims..

The dhimmi tax also exempted non muslims from above taxes aswell as any military service.

City of “cursed” widows... left to die;

Read the question before jumping into print.

Depends on what is defined as Muslim world,if my country is included, the answer would be,,,,,,,,We dont have such a problem.
You only need to take a look at our members of parliament.

the question is : do all muslim majority countries follow same strategy towards its minorities ?
iran/pak/BD vs UAE/qatar/oman.
today's india is quite biased to its minorities, maybe not much on the ground but as in the govt (party) policy.
its quite wrong to paint every muslim ruled country in same stroke.
what about the central asian countries which are overwhelmingly muslim dominated. they dont seem to mind the minorities.
