We will build it in steps, and the first building there is a mosque
That President design has the element of Garuda, mystical bird which has become our national symbol. I think we get it from our past Hindu influence
It also becomes the name of our flag carrier
But the physical of the bird comes from our endemic Eagle bird, Java Eagle

Seems like the presidential palace got a bit redesign after the controversy. But I kinda prefer neo-indies style.

Well the leak show quite ugly Garuda design and some said many part are made of glass and now we see quite good Garuda design and the structure look like comprise of light steel. I dont like the second winner design though, particularly those white "futuristic " buildings design that is also incorporated in this new video, I describe it as "norak" in Indonesian term.

You know even if Indonesia achieved 50% of what is planned then It will become I think the worlds best capital city and the thing which actually catching my attentions every time is the planned Harmony b/w Nature and Modern Architecture ..... it is very satisfying to see the aim of Indonesian authorities to achieve right balance between the two.

Thank you for the praise, but look like there will be at least another year before the master plan is made. There are many critics coming from Architects associations about the lack of thorough master plan including something like soil analysis and others, to make the design suitable with the environment and soil structure there.
The architects association also demand more democratic process on the design plan as they think the process is not really open and only involve some people.
It is why Jokowi said it as pre-design as he wants more input coming from people, particularly architects community. It has become hot topic in our media lately, and particularly those President Palace is getting better look just after 2 week when the first original design get huge critics.
I think it is the benefit of having a democratic nation. I am quite optimistic that the master plan and final design will likely be quite decent if Jokowi accept the inputs from architects community.

I'm glad that the huge Garuda building/sculpture/facade or whatever that is in the Presidential palace design, has been toned down quite significantly in this new video... However I still feel that the overall design for the Presidential Palace could still be better... make it more grand or traditional or modern or something... I'm not sure what kind of architectural style is the Palace design in the video...
On the other hand the overall city design seems nice, modern and "green", with lots of open public spaces and wide pedestrian walkways... Also it seems public transport will dominate in the new city in the forms of MRTs, LRTs, Trams which is a good thing... Private car travel within the city should be limited and citizens should use public transport for their daily commute and activities as much as possible...
On another note, the new capital seems planned to be built above swamp and marshes with plenty of the original vegetation still around... can't imagine the amount of mosquitoes there..!

It seems that Jokowi himself who pick that President Palace design, I mean there are many people sending their design, but Jokowi chose that Balinese artist (not architects) as winner. I think the building designs should be chosen by a board of committee who should be comprised of well known architects, not Jokowi himself since that is the area where he is not expert on it.
The first competition of design that happen around end of 2019 has a board of committee as panel to decide the winner, so it is better although I dont know who are people inside it. This Presidential Palace design, mosque, church, parliament building, and some places are also made quite quick, around 2 weeks according to that Balinese artist who make them. This is not approriate and Jokowi should not in rush in completing the design and give more opportunities for architects community to show other design or make it better.
I mean no need to rush, but it is also good to know Jokowi give the design to the public to be evaluated and now we have much better Presidential Palace design than previous one which was revealed around 2 weeks ago.
This is the design of the mosque @HRK. The mosque that I posted is not the mosque that will be built in the new Capital, but still in the same region, the Youtuber just want to get some viewer.
This is the design of the mosque, but it is not final as they look like open to any input and critics.
