Indonesia suspends maid supply to KSA

What is a 3 years old article doing here. Everyone knows that Saudi Arabia carries death patently for a crime like murder. You take someone's life your life gets taken very plain and simple.

Setting KSA aside, it's good that Indonesia is looking out for their migrant workers.

I had read that Singapore hires maids from many SE Asian countries, but Filipino maids get better pay and working conditions than Indonesian maids for the same work, because Philippine government negotiated better agreement with Singapore government.

Mate, this thread is almost 4 years old. Currently there are 1 million Indonesians living and working in KSA. Hundred of thousands of Saudi Arabian nationals are of Indonesian origin themselves.

A few rascals and criminals who do great harm to the reputation of KSA cannot speak for the almost 10 million big (!) migrant community. They are a tiny, tiny minority. The reason why this gets so much publicity (this happens everywhere and elsewhere at a much bigger scale) is already due to the very big scrutiny of KSA in the Western media. Whenever a Saudi Arabian farts it becomes headline news. We all know it deep down inside.

Having said that then of course KSA is not without faults (I would be a clown if I claimed so) and of course there are problems in this department (migrants) but there can be no doubt that we are dealing with a minority. Anyone who thinks differently is simply disrespectful towards the millions of migrants who live and work in KSA and who never complain.

Maid's beheading in Saudi Arabia halts Indonesian domestic worker scheme - Telegraph

Migrant worker Ruyati binti Sapubi, 54, was executed after she was convicted of murdering her Saudi employer, Khairiya bint Hamid Mijlid, with a meat cleaver.

The maid carried out the killing after she was denied permission to leave the kingdom and return to her family in Indonesia, according to officials in Jakarta.

"The Indonesian government has decided to impose a moratorium on sending workers to Saudi Arabia," labour minister Muhaimin Iskandar was quoted by state news agency Antara as saying.

In a second case, a court in the Saudi capital Riyadh had sentenced Indonesian maid Darsem to death for murdering her Yemeni employer in December 2007 in what she called an act of self-defence as the employer had tried to rape her.

The women's cases are the latest in a string of incidents involving Indonesian menial labourers in the Middle East. This week authorities in Saudi Arabia discovered a Sri Lankan maid who had been kept against her will without pay for nearly 14 years by her local employers.
