Indonesia prepares to host 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup

Derrick Michael, 17 years old, 2.04 meter high. He was part of the Indonesian national team in January this year during FIBA Asia Cup qualifier. He was still 16 during that games. He will be 20 in April 2023. If Indonesia can reach top 8 in ASIA FIBA Cup, there will be huge possibility that he will become one of the main Indonesian national team players in 2023 FIBA Word Cup. He will likely play as power forward since his body is too skinny for center position.

FIBA ASIA CUP qualifier will be started again in January 2021 and before the competition start again, Indonesian national team has plan to do long training abroad. Most possibility to do training in Serbia. Derrick Michael IMO will not become part of the team since he needs to finish his high school first. The priority of Indonesian National team is to reach FIBA Asia Cup final round, so they will rely on professional players playing in IBL this time.

Two Indonesian national players start practicing during the pandemic period. Indonesia Professional Basketball League, IBL, will be started again this year.

PS: the last player section is the youtuber himself, not a national player, no wonder he is suck playing basketball

Just saw new line for Indonesian senior team, it is quite socking that young player like Derrick Michael and Julian Alexandre are called. These players will play against Thailand in November. Very crucial game since Indonesia need to win to go to the next qualification round.

If Indonesia lost, it mean Indonesia doesnt have any change left to play in basketball world cup despite we are part of the host countries beside Japan and Philippine. Actually I am rather pessimistic with these new comer, only 7 players that remain from the previous national team that played against Philippine and South Korea and the other 7 are new players.

Do you have favorite sport game to watch on TV or maybe on stadium ?

Previously I like to follow Indonesian football national team, but I have become so frustated to the point that make me not watch any live game of our national team fully since the last 5-6 years

Although after being currently trained by former South Korean national team coach, I have some motivation again to watch, seems like more into curiosity on how our national team can be transformed by him. Definitaly I will try to watch world cup U 20 in 2021 where our team will be played there.

Despite that, I have developed some kind of bond with our national basketball team for the last 3 years due to the fact that many of the live event game can be watched in Youtube. As you know, it is difficult to watch and follow basketball national team in TV since they dont get enough coverage there. I played basketball seriously since high school and even join Pelita Jaya junior club for some time.

Here is the high light of one of Indonesian national player when he played in IBL, Indonesian Basketbal League, he play as guard and play maker. I know his mother since she manage Pelita Jaya junior club and I still remember when his mother give me Pelita Jaya costume

Yup, Indonesia and Philippine usually fight each other to show who is the best in South East Asia. Usually we always lost to them. Philippine is the basketball country, the sport is their most popular one, and it is why they dont have difficulties to get talent, while Indonesian favorite sport is football, badminton, and volley ball respectively. Basketball in Indonesia is pretty much only played by people living in big cities where football field is very scarce.

On the other hand, Philippine football team for instant is weak among the South East Asian countries.

For the last 25 years, Indonesia and Philippine national basket ball teams are always the two best team in South East Asia. Just last year Thailand and Vietnam are getting better in Seagames and Indonesia must be satisfied in the fourth places for 5x5 game, but we still manage to be the second best in 3x3 game.

This is full game of final basket ball Seagames (South East Asian sport games) in 2017. Philippine uses mix blood players and one naturalized player.
