A REAL shame the Vikramditya and MiG-29Ks didn't take place in this joint exercise.

An opportunity squandered really, the IN must have some compelling reasons why these assets didn't take part.....

Varuna 2015: Stunning images of Indo-French Naval exercise

LOL at very first pic caption giving an NH-90 ( from Chevalier-Paul ) as a Dauphin ( from CDG ).

Journos still don't know an AK-47 from a Glock, or a Su-30 for that matter, impressive! :hitwall:

Good day all, Tay.

I'm aware but they could have delayed that by a few weeks so as to participate in this exercise which would invaluable for the ship and the air wing.

I guess the IN gave precedence to the Viky participating in TROPEX-2015 over Varuna.

The scope of Exercise VARUNA included the entire gamut of maritime operations ranging from Aircraft Carrier Operations, Anti Submarines Warfare Exercises, Maritime Interdiction Operations to multi-ship replenishment exercise.

Regular IN-FN interaction over the years has allowed both navies to gradually and systematically increase the complexity and professional content of the joint exercises. VARUNA aims at deriving mutual benefit from the experiences of the two navies. The confidence gained through such exercises helps develop Standard Operating Procedures, particularly in the fields of Joint Maritime Air Operations Planning with exchange of Carrier Operational Capabilities.
