Democracy (Urdu: جمہوریت‎; pronounced jamhooriat) is one of the ideologies and systems upon which Pakistan was sought to be established in 1947 as a nation-state, as envisaged by the leader and founding father of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistan constitutionally is a democratic parliamentary republic with its political system based on an elected form of governance. However, in past history there have been deviations from democracy in the form of military coups and political uncertainty.[1] Today Pakistan is the one of the newest functioning democracies since 2008, with the first democratic elections held in 2013 to complete a 5 year term for the first time in its political history.:rofl:

The country has seven national parties: Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and Nationalist Congress Party (N C P) Bahujan Samaj Party (B S P) All India Trinamool Congress(TMC)[2] At the level of its states, many regional parties stand for elections to state legislatures, every five years. The Rajya Sabha elections are held every 6 years.

India follows the dual polity system, i.e. a double government which consists of the central authority at the center and states at the periphery. The constitution defines the organization powers and limitations of both central and state governments, and it is well-recognized, rigid and considered supreme; i.e. laws of the nation must conform to it.

The Indian constitution provides for an independent judiciary, which is headed by the Supreme Court. The court's mandate is to protect the constitution, to settle disputes between the central government and the states, to settle inter-state disputes, to nullify any central or state laws that go against the constitution, and to protect the fundamental rights of citizens, issuing writs for their enforcement in cases of violation

Corruption is like hydra. You cut one, two takes it's place. Need some avareness among the people to avoid taking shortcut paths. Go the right way, alas that will remain probably a dream in south asia.

He was never a politician.

He was a career diplomat.

Cheers, Doc

Touche

Btw on that note you also have admit Indians still cannot boast about all inclusiveness while pointing the finger at others as it often happens on this subject matter, Because both the posts of the president and the VP are constitutional appointees that does not require a referendum of the people, In short political posts

So lets wait till India elects a prime minister from a minority community or a Dalit to celebrate the maturity of it's electorate

Sometimes you also have to be good enough and popular enough among the masses to get voted.

Maharashtra is genuinely peeved at never having a PM. In spite of what we have done for the land and what we are as a state of modern India. Stuff happens ....

Cheers, Doc

Kovind was born in Paraukh village in the Kanpur Dehat district, Uttar Pradesh.[6][7] His father Maikulal was a landless Kori (a Dalitweaving community) who ran a small shop to support his family. He was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters. He was born in a mud hut, which eventually collapsed. He was only five when his mother died of burns when their thatched dwelling caught fire. Kovind later donated the land to the community
Mohammad Hamid Ansari ( pronunciation (help·info)) (born 1 April 1937) is an Indian Politician who served as Vice president of India from 2007 to 2017.
Hope this shuts ur mouth about minority community or a Dalit to celebrate the maturity of it's electorate:coffee:

Completely agree.. And need to be on a national platform NOT ethnic or religious ones

Thats what democracy is all about, I was just referring to juveniles in the forum that does not know the difference between constitutional posts and elected representation

So lets wait for one day for a Indian of a minority community or a Dalit to be elected as the leader of the world largest democracy to celebrate it as a true win

Former Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari
A top retiring Indian official embarrassed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist government by saying Muslims were feeling insecure under his rule following attacks on them by Hindu hardliners on mere suspicion that they were killing cows considered holy by majority Hindus.

In an interview with state-run Rajya Sabha television channel broadcast Thursday, Hamid Ansari said intolerance was growing in India with Hindu hardliners questioning the nationalism of Muslims who comprise nearly 14 percent of India's 1.3 billion people.

Ansari, a Muslim, ended his second five-year term as India's vice-president, a ceremonial position, on Thursday.

He said he had conveyed his concerns to Modi and some of his ministers.

Ansari was a career diplomat before taking up the constitutional position.

We should ask him a simple question that In which country in the world, Muslims have more safety and more rights?

He spoke the language of a third rate inspite of being vice president. He should have asked the muslim to follow Dr APJ Abdul kalam as roll model and get their child and girls educated. He could have asked Muslims to be patriot and do not get miss guided by the forces who want to provoke them and be educated and humble human being.

Instead he spoke the language of a typical Mullah (Even Mullah do not use such language in public and TV Discussion now a days). He even could not say that triple Tallaq should be banned. He opposed banning the same. I Am ashamed that we kept this primitive mentality mullah as our vice president for 10 long years. Even such highest position could not change him. He remained a typical mullah who always worry about mullahs like them and their stine aged mentality and lest bothered about their well being, education and well being but worry that tripple talaq should not be banned. he was a gift from congress. When congress want to play Muslim card, they can not choose someone like kalam but find this sort of dirty scumm from any corner of the country.

This is the VICE PRESIDENT of India saying india is becoming a hindutva republic

No Former Vice-president.

He did not speak earlier when he was occupying the non-political position of VP but now he is a free man and can speak his mind.

Hmmm.. So if he did include Christians, Who seems to be the next largest religious group facing threats from the right wing Hindu's.. Would you still say he lost credibility cos then he will be only speaking behalf of Abrahamic religions ?

I would say the message is lost if you keep looking at it through the prism of segregation

Do you know Hamid Ansari was a strong supporter of khilafat movement.

His heart is with Muslim brotherhood rather than Indian nationhood.

Its a disgrace that such a person was elected to a such a high constitutional position in the first place not once but twice.
