India's Mars mission sparks another UK aid row

Clam down guys. It is the media that is creating this controversy. They even created the same furore when China's first space walk. I feel UK is a friend of India and can be a voice for India in Europe.

.
No we do not have those. Your point?
Indias space research is more advanced!!!!

Perhaps that is the problem. Maybe you should care a little more about the people in need.
10 billion for an year for NREGA(aprogram that ensures job for rural people) vs $80 million for a mars mission for 3 years(2012-2014)
Just compare........
and $1 trillion for five years for infrastructure.......

.
............

But you are taking the money and that is fact you have to realize.
Seems like someone is angry as they didn't get the money from the British......May be next time you ask US to not supply Britishers from what NATO supply is distributed to British troops.

Now we should stop boasting ourselves. We should talk once we did the 'Job'. The media here is playing on the fears of common UK citizen. UK is going though economic difficulties. They even created a controversy over Olympics

I was not disputing that. I am sure there are many that think that the ESA is more advanced than their Indian counterparts.

Every once in a while they set up goals like orbiting and analyzing the Moon and Mars. Or send an Indian out to space with it's own capability. All of these help Indian industry too.

But the vast majority of things ISRO sends to orbit are for the ordinary Indian people.

This is not something India should stop investing in. I don't care what anyone says.

Pakistani posters defending the decision of Britishers....well that's something....BTW Britishers are also involved in Drone attacks...don't do this.....

ISRO provides various data about weather and resources which are valuable for our farmers....and remember most of Indian population lives in villages and depends on agriculture...so yeah they are giving information to people in need.....

I am boasting?
We have transformed a ruined country to an economic power,a growing science and technology hotspot and a space power.
We should be proud about it

ESA and France are more advanced than us but UK is not.

Absolutely right!!!
We considered this as a gift to ISRO scientists who have done so much for our country

Oh for sure, satellites and what not are very good economically. But Mars? :undecided:

A small correction: we are in the process of transformation and not transformed. It is British that is giving us aid since long before our transformation has even began, hence we should some respect. It is different matter whether we require the aid or not. I feel we should stop taking aid. But there is always a better way to convey your point in a humble way.

After all Britain is not harming India.

Buddy if you have to become a major power you have to do things in parallel....you can't just first raise the poor then do cutting edge research.....coz then by the time you achieve the former you are decades behind in research from other countries.

Try to understand this. Also the MARS mission needs special research which as I had mentioned way many times, finds a way in other disciplines and industries....so try to look at the bigger picture.

Please stop being British Cheerleader!!!
What have they done for undoing almost a century of looting, exploitation?
millions killed, artificial famines and looting cannot be undone by $200 million aid an year

Space is a the new frontier. A aspiring power should have a well rounded space program, and India do have ambitions to become a regional power, and moreover, $100 million is a tiny amount where corruption is billions of dollar worth. If there is anything that has to be eradicated that is corruption and not space programs

Oh I see the bigger picture, I just sympathise with those poor people who might feel aggrieved.
