Maharashtra has a population nearly as large as BD and hosts the financial centre of India and so would have a higher than average national GDP/ capita.

BD only became independent a full 24 years behind India and has already surpassed India in indicators like life expectancy and child malnutrition. HDI figures will soon show BD HDI as high as India as they do not reflect the new BD base year for calculating GDP.

Dude, BD looks to countries like Sri Lanka and Malaysia for a model of economic development and not India which is seen as chaotic and full of starving masses.
